chapter sixteen
the trail to disappointmentSAGE WAS ZONED OFF, PLAYING THE air drums with her sticks while she attempted to practice for the song her dad wanted her to write for a group of campers to record.
"hey sage." someone said, and sage came back to reality to see tess. "not shocked you made the switch." she muttered, tess sitting down on the bench.
"i'm not the jerk you saw the last time you were at camp rock." tess said. "i'm here to apologize, i'm good with all the girls but i didn't get the chance to apologize to you because you..well...yeah." she said.
"i am the last person you should be apologizing to." sage said. "you were the first person to call me out sage. i feel bad for being so hostile and mean to you, i was just intimidated to be honest." tess said.
"it's fine, seriously. i have bigger things with the camp rockers to be dealing with." sage said. tess sighed, "that was the only reason you came to camp last summer? to try and take camp rock down." she said.
"no. my dad sent me there to take down the camp. i didn't do it." sage said. "so why don't you tell everyone that?" tess said. "i've tried, nobody listened." sage said.
"oh...at least your here." tess said. "it's way better here, everything is so professional." she continued. "yeah but that fun you guys have at camp rock? that's nonexistent here, knowing my dad." sage said.
"geez sage, what happened to you, you were so different last year." tess said. "let's say this — she gestured to the camp — isn't really where i want to be." sage said.
"sage, come to my office quickly please." axel said over the loud pa system. "i was saying." sage shrugged, picking up her notebook and her papers.
—
"what do i do, this song is like one hundred percent missing something." sage said, walking along the path next to the lake.
she was tapping her pen in her notebook, trying to get the notes down pack. she heard the song in her head as he piano and violin played along with it, trying to figure out what was missing.
"maybe some guitar?"
sage turned around, figuring it was luke coming to harass her. shockingly it wasn't, but it was nate.
"nate from camp rock." she said, tilting her head while she looked at him. nate smiled at her, walking closer as he awkwardly said nothing.
"i love your suggestion but..i don't play guitar so.." sage said. "oh." nate said, looking around.
"you have really nice hair, i wish my hair looked like that." sage complimented. "thanks um, just water." nate said.
she nodded, not knowing what to say next. "do you remember last summer...when you said you would teach me violin this summer?" nate said.
sage thought for a few seconds, than shook her head no. "i don't recall." she said.
"what's this thing you have going on? you forgetting everything?" nate said. "i didn't forget anything."
"yeah you did! at the bonfire you asked me if i was friends with shane when you know he's in band with his brothers and last year you saw me perform at camp rock." nate ranted, moving his hands around in anger.
"shane always mentioned me as his brother, and obviously you remember what happened last year so why are you pretending like you don't know anything about them moments we shared together or about me."
"i really don't care about what you did sage. it doesn't make you up as a person. i knew you a bit last year but now that i'm here all summer i was really looking forward to forward to getting to know you."
"so if you're doing this to protect me or protect yourself i really really don't care about what happened." he finished, looking at sage desperately.
sage blinked, not knowing what to say to him. he was catching up on her act, but sage wasn't going to drop it.
speaking to nate already hurt her enough as is? just remembering everything that occurred last summer. did she really want to go back to what they were starting to have..or did she want to keep her heart safe?
"i didn't forget nate. i seriously just don't know what moments you're talking about. everything that happened last year is there but stuff between us, we just met this year." sage said.
nate just shook his head, looking around. "fine sage. let's just start from sratch, but i know you remember and i'll make you remember eventually." he said.
nate turned around, walking to the direction camp rock was. sage watched as he left, feeling bad but knowing she couldn't let him know she remembered.
"i would love to teach you violin."
nayah speaks !!
this angst is crazy
