chapter three
family and camp drama

"H, A, S, T, AND THEN WE CAN GO ayyy, and yell la vista." sage said, sitting in between sander and barron as they ate lunch.

"okay ready, five six seven eight." sage said, using her drumsticks to make a beat on the table. "hasta la vista, we'll all be going separate ways. say everything we didn't say. this is your moment before you go, come now, get up and show them." barron and sander said.

"keep doing your thing, thing, thing keep doing your thing, thing, thing keep doing your thing, thing, thing keep doing your thing, thing, thing." sage said.

"h a s t aye! la vista!" the three of them said. "oh wait, that's really good i love that!" barron said.

"you're a musical genius sage." sander said. "it's not much, i just find songwriting pretty easy." sage shrugged.

"well definitely win the final jam with this." sander smiled.

sage smiled back, proudly. she had never had friends, but she loved the few she had already in her first weeks of camp.

she could see herself getting distracted from what she was at camp rock to do, but she couldn't help herself get excited about the camp life and performing with other people.

suddenly tess, ella, peggy, and mitchie all walked by the table with their drops, strutting past. "sage, let's go." tess said.

she then tripped over caitlyn's foot, almost falling. "oh, i'm so sorry!" caitlyn said, looking up from her computer.

"actually i'm so not." she said, realizing it was tess. "i would respond..but..." tess said.

"but you are responding by saying you're not responding." ella said. "shut. up!" tess said, glaring at caitlyn.

she moved over a bit, tilting her plate and spilling some of her noodles on caitlyn. "okay that was on purpose!" caitlyn said.

"doesn't matter. anything makes that outfit look better." tess said getting in her face. "see?" she said, pouring more noodles.

caitlyn threw some her noodles at tess, and sage laughed a bit. "nice caitlyn." sage said, tess looking at her.

"good shot!" sander said. tess threw noodles back, and then so did caitlyn.

"stop! hey, no!" mitchie said coming over. "you guys, stop!" she said. she stood in between them, trying to prevent the fighting.

"oops, my spaghetti slipped!" caitlyn said. "i can't believe you did that!" tess yelled.

"neither can i."

they all turned to see brown watching the events, everyone freezing. "busted.." sander teased.

he pointed at caitlyn, then at mitchie and tess, and finally towards where his office was. "i hate when i have to be uncool." brown said, following the girls as they left.

"oh my gosh, i have a sister too!" peggy said, her sage and ella all talking about their home lives. it made sage wish she didn't have to lie about her life, and she could tell them the person she was.

"my sister is only a year younger than me, how old is your sister?" sage asked. "she's nine, so way younger." peggy said.

"what about you ella?" sage asked. her phone then rung, the contact of her father popping up.

"hold on, i have to get this." sage said, getting up and leaving the cabin. she went to the side, answering it and speaking lowly.

"hi sage, how's everything going?" axel asked her. "i made friends with the popular girl, and with the nephew of brown." sage said.

"good, good. smart." axel said. "i think i'll be able to done before camp even finishes." sage said. "perfect, i knew you were up for the job." axel said.

"yeah. totally." sage said to herself, thinking about all the fun she was secretly having. "i'm truly proud of you."

"then when we take over and make our own camp, you can write all the songs we need to perform. you and every other kid who wants a future in music needs a camp where they can truly showcase their talents." axel said.

"you and dana will be the stars though, of course." he continued. "i can't wait." sage said, smiling.

she wanted a future in music obviously, and according to her dad just having fun wasn't going to cut it. he was convinced he needed a new camp, just so people with "true talents" could practice and have a good chance of because famous.

"keep on going, i'll see you at the end of the summer when camp rock is gone for good." axel said.

"okay bye. love—" the line went out before sage could finish her sentence. "you." she sighed, closing her flip phone.
