chapter ten
the luck of the strings cabin"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU guys can't participate in final jam?" sage said. "tess set us for stealing her charm bracelet, and then brown said we can't participate in camp activities until the end of final jam." mitchie said.
sage's jaw dropped, "i've never seen brown so harsh before." caitlyn said quietly.
"wait!" sage said after she thought about brown's words. "final jam technically ends after the last performance, then they judge. if you perform right after the judges start choosing the winner, then you're not breaking any rules!" sage said.
"oh my gosh, you're right!" caitlyn said. "you're a genius sage, never stop being you!" mitchie smiled.
the two girls ran away, going to practice whatever they had planned. sage sighed, flopping back on her bed even though she knew she had to get ready.
she eventually got up, walking to the strings cabin. after final jam she had one more full day of camp, and sage was dreading it.
not only was her dad going to de extremly disappointed in her for not harming camp rock but enjoying it, she was never going to see all the friends she made ever again and once again she was going to have no friends.
it was not something sage was looking forward to, and she wanted to be in a good mood for final jam that was starting in a few hours, but sage couldn't help but think about the more negative parts.
so instead, she was playing her feelings out in violin, since she knew her anger would've made her play her drums way too aggressively.
sage just tried to focus on how fun her summer was as she played, also focusing on the music at the same time. it was pretty quiet since everyone was getting ready in their cabins so sage didn't want to do horrible while everyone heard her.
she played with her eyes mostly closed, truly taking in everything at camp rock.
sage sped up the song as it began to come to an end, going full out and making sure not to mess up any notes.
she let out a deep breath as she finished, sitting on the bench in the room. someone began to clap for her, and sage looked up from looking at the floor.
"hi nate." she said, seeing the curly head boy in front of her. "you're amazing. what's next you play the piano too?" he said.
"i actually do." sage said, chuckling a bit. "you're an all rounder!" nate said, sitting down next to sage on the bench.
"yeah shane calls me allstar." sage said. nate nodded, "you looked like you were about to cry, is everything alright?" nate asked.
"i'm just gonna miss it here." sage said, looking around. "you'll be back next year! knowing you're coming back the next year makes school go by way faster i promise." nate said.
"i don't think i'll be coming back, my dad doesn't like the camp much." sage said. "the one in europe? i'm going there for touring soon, i can convince him." nate said.
"don't bother. it's just — i don't get to have a lot of fun and this summer was not at all what i expected. i had so much fun, all my friends, and somehow it's already over." sage said.
"it always feels that way. camp rock has something about it, it's a family here." nate said. "i learned how to play percussion here." he said.
"so you're also multi talented. you play the drums, sing, play guitar, and play percussion." he said.
"i don't really talk about it." nate said, smiling shyly. "maybe next year you'll learn percussion." he said.
"if anyone even likes me here next year." sage said. "what do you mean? nobody is ever having problems here, brown takes care of it." nate said.
"it's a long story." sage said, looking back down. "look, you can't predict the future. you don't know what is going to happen next summer." nate said.
sage looked up at him, shrugging. "you have really pretty eyes." she said. "thanks, fans always tell me that. hear it...a lot." nate said.
"cool..." sage nodded. they both sat there awkwardly, neither of them having anything to say.
"well i have to get ready for final jam so.." sage said, standing up and putting her violin back in it's case.
nate stayed quiet, sage speeding up to get out of the awkward situation. she started to walk to the door, when he spoke up.
"next summer!" he said. sage turned around, and nate cleared his throat. "next summer, maybe teach me how to play violin?" he said.
"maybe."
sage left the strings cabin, a smile on her face. she always felt happy after leaving the strings cabin, usually it was from playing on her violin so well..but this time it was because of a particular pop star.
