chapter twelve
hasta la vista sage

SAGE STORMED OUT OF THE dressing rooms after she spent ten minutes pacing back and forth. she went to the audience, her eyes fixed on the back of her dad's head.

she went over to him, crouching down in the back of the room. next to her was shane, nate, and jason, them judging as the performances were over.

"what are you doing here." sage whisper yelled. "watching you perform, you did amazing by the way. you'll definitely win." axel said, dana next to him.

"it looked so fun." dana said. "that too i guess." axel said.

"you cannot be here, i have two days left of camp! brown is not going to be happy seeing you here, you're going to ruin final jam. besides, once again...two.more.days." sage said.

axel took off his glasses, his angry eyes glaring into sage's worried ones. "about that."

"i'm really here because you're going home now." axel said. "why now?" sage said.

"i've been having someone here undercover watching you, and seeing your progress. instead i've heard reports of you doing absolutely nothing, just purely having fun at the camp, making friends with everyone, performing at their stupid 'jams' and talking to some pathetic boy." axel said.

"you've been spying on me?" sage said in disbelief. "i knew you were going to stray off, i had to take precautions." axel said.

"that's insane!" sage said. she turned around, making sure nobody was watching her. "you need to leave, because i'm—"

"sage you can't be here the boys are judging." brown said, walking over. "oh, no, no, no." she said over and over again as brown got closer.

"axel!" brown said, not whispering at all. "oh no..." sage said, stepping back.

the three boys turned from talking, looking at sage, their uncle, and axel. a bunch of the campers started to poke their heads out of the wings, wanting to see what happened.

"what are you doing here, you're definitely not allowed here. how do you even get in?" brown said angry.

sage just knew it wasn't going to end well. she was planning on just not coming back to camp next year, no explanation at all.

but with everyone watching, including all the friends she made and the people she just performed with, she was going to be hated by everyone.

"parents come to watch right? i'm here to watch my child." axel said. "your child? who's your child?" brown said.

"right behind you."

brown turned, sage standing there with a single tear falling down her face. "sage..i thought your name was sage dean."

"she's a turner. couldn't you tell by her talent?" axel said. "why would you send her here, there could've been anywhere else?" brown said.

"i wanted her to end you once and for all, i wanted my revenge." axel said. "you tried to take down camp rock?" shane said, walking to sage.

"but i didn't—"

"you're a liar too! no wonder you were so set on defending mitchie, you were doing the same thing but even worse. the daughter of my uncle's worse enemy." shane said.

"i stopped trying a few weeks into camp! i love it here!" sage said. "i can't believe this." brown said shaking his head.

"unfortunately she got brainwashed, and didn't complete what i asked her to." axel said. "sage."

sage turned to see all her friends on the stage, witnessing the scene. "we spent the whole summer together." sander said.

barron was next to him, shaking his head in disbelief. sage ran up to the stage, climbing onto it. "i stopped for all of you, because i knew how fun it is here!"

"that's why you said you weren't coming back next year." barron said. "axel turner's daughter, really ironic." caitlyn said.

"guys, please—"

"sage?"

sage looked down and saw nate standing there, heartbroken. she no longer could hold her tears, and they were streaming down her face.

"nate, please." sage said. "i thought you were cool, i really did. but i can't do that to my uncle." nate said.

"these people aren't your friends sage, just how their camp owner is." axel said. "i can't believe you accused me of being a bad friend when you were the real traitor." shane said.

"let's go sage, they don't deserve you." axel stood up.

sage took one look at all the people she spent her summer with, them either avoiding eye contact with her or having a hurt and betrayed face.

she stepped off the stage, looking at nate. "i'm sorry."

sage walked away, walking behind her dad and her sister with her head hanging low. she didn't expect it to be that dramatic, but now she had lost both her friends and their trust.

shane walked up to his brother, putting his arm around him. nate just shook his head once more, while brown made an announcement for everyone to go back to what they were doing and wait for the brothers to judge.

nate was devastated after trying out the girl he liked was a fake, and even worse basically set to be his enemy.

"hasta la vista sage."
