AUTHOR'S POV
Joonha, Jungkook, and Yn sat on the couch, sipping the rose tea Jungkook had prepared. The room buzzed with casual chatter, though an undercurrent of tension lingered beneath the surface.
"This tastes amazing, and smells amazing too," Yn exclaimed, her eyes lighting up as she took another sip of the tea. "I'd love to have this tea more often. "
Jungkook's lips curled into a faint smirk. "I can make it for you whenever you want," he offered, his gaze flicking to Joonha, the intensity in his eyes palpable. He leaned back slightly, exuding an air of casual dominance.
"Joonha can bring the roses," he began, his tone calm. "And I'll carefully pluck each petal. Then I'll let them dry, crush them bit by bit, grinding them into powder." His eyes glinted as he spoke, the corners of his mouth twitching upward, as if savoring a private satisfaction.
Joonha stiffened. It didn't take him long to understand Jungkook's metaphorical jab.
Jungkook shifted his attention back to Yn, his expression softening. "That way, you can store the roses as fine powder and use it whenever you like."
Joonha shifted uncomfortably in his seat as Jungkook raised his cup to his lips, hiding a triumphant smirk.
The room hung thick with tension as the silence stretched. Both Jungkook and Joonha busy having an intense staring contest that could have set the house on fire. Their expressions darkened by the second, jaws tightening. Yn looked back and forth between the two, her brows furrowing in confusion.
"Aheem!" Yn cleared her throat, her voice cutting through the heavy silence. "Dumplings! Let's have dumplings now. I'll go bring them!" She bounced off the couch, practically fleeing to the kitchen.
She returned, a plate of steamed chicken dumplings in hand. As the trio began eating, Jungkook dipped a piece in chili sauce.
Yn also reached for a dumpling, only for two pairs of chopsticks to shove into her line of sight from either side, causing her to flinch.
Jungkook poked his inner cheek with tongue, irritated by the other guy's sudden appearance. Joonha also glared at Jungkook, annoyed by his presence.
"Yn doesn't like spicy food. She wouldn't prefer a dumpling dipped in chili sauce," Joonha said with a tight-lipped smile.
Jungkook's face fell, his chopsticks retreating slowly. "Oh, I didn't know that," he replied, his tone low.
But he didn't fail to notice Joonha's smirk, and his jaw visibly tightened as he shoved his own dumpling into his mouth, chewing aggressively like a predator devouring it's prey as he watched Joonha feeding Yn with disgust in his eyes.
"Oh my God! It's still spicy," Yn suddenly exclaimed, fanning her mouth. "I think I put too much pepper in the filling. Where's water?"
Both men instantly leapt to their feet.
Joonha darted toward the fridge, grabbing a bottle of cold milk, while Jungkook quickly poured a glass of water like his life depended on it.
"Here, drink this," they both said in unison, holding out their offerings to Yn.
Yn stared at them, bewildered. "What... why are you both-?"
"That's milk. Not water," Jungkook said throwing glares at Joonha, his smile polite but his eyes sharp.
"Milk works better and quicker to relieve the burning sensation," Joonha countered in an equally friendly tone but his glare fiery.
Yn sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Sit down, please, both of you. What's with these awkward smiles? And I'll just drink the water, okay? My throat is aching. So, I better avoid anything cold."
