Chapter 24:Faith

[At HYBE Building]

JUNGKOOK'S POV

The atmosphere in the room is thick with tension. Beside me, my manager, Doyun-ssi shifted uncomfortably. I leaned closer, whispering, "Doyun-ssi, why are we suddenly called into the meeting room?"

"I don't know," he whispered back, just as confused. "Let's see what it's about."

The head of PR department, Mr. Seong and our Producer-nim sat across us. Then there stood the ruthless Mrs. Cheon at one end of the table. They are all waiting. For what, I don’t know.

Then the door creaked open, and Yn stepped in. Our eyes met for a brief second before she looked around.
Now I'm even more confused.

Why is she here?

"You’re Kwon Yn, I guess?" The head of PR ,Mr. Seong spoke up.

"Yes, sir," she responded with a polite bow.

"Then please come in. Take a seat," he said, gesturing her forward.

Yn walked closer, stopping at the other end of the table, across Mrs. Cheon and sat down.

Then suddenly Mrs. Cheon activated the projector behind her and stood aside. A still image flickered on the wall screen.

"Yn-ssi, do you recognize this footage?" she asked Yn.

"Ah, yes. That's me standing with Sooyoung."

"Okay. Now, everyone, take a look at this CCTV footage please."

The video played, and I watched curiously.

"I tried to get as much information as possible," Yn's voice said in the video.

Sooyoung smiled,"Don’t worry, there would be a reward for your cooperation," Sooyoung replied and Yn handed her a card.  With that the video ended.

The room was deathly silent, every eye locked on Yn.

"This footage is from August 25, 2024, right in front of HYBE entrance." Mrs. Cheon began, her voice calm. "And a few weeks later,on September 19, 2024, Jeon Jungkook was reportedly attacked by the woman in this video, Kim Sooyoung. Am I right, Jungkook?"

I opened my mouth to respond, but Yn beat me to it. "Wait a second! This footage... something's wrong with it. We didn’t have any conversation like that. I don’t remember handing her any card either. Instead, Sooyoung gave me her business card and told me to follow Jeon-ssi."

"But in this footage, it’s you, isn’t it, Yn-ssi?"

Yn nodded reluctantly. "It is, but I don’t remember—"

"And the voice we heard just now is also yours, correct?" Mrs. Cheon continued cutting Yn off.

Another nod from Yn.

Mrs. Cheon's eyes gleamed with suspicion. "Then explain this. You clearly told Sooyoung that you tried to obtain information. What kind of information Yn-ssi? Are you perhaps selling our confidential information to the media? Or to another company? How much are you being paid for this?"

The heck! What kind of bullsh*t is that?

Yn stood frozen as though the weight of the accusation had paralyzed her.

"Mrs. Cheon," My manager, Doyun-ssi spoke up before I could. "Why would Yn do something like that? I think you're mistaken."

"For money, of course!" Mrs. Cheon spat, her voice dripping with venom. "People will do anything for the right price. And we’ve all seen the recent leaks of confidential information to the media. We had to scramble to cover it up before things got out of hand. Ever since I found this footage, I've started to suspect Yn-ssi."
