The next day, the first period was PE, and the students were lined up on the track, panting as they completed their laps. Rohit, their PT teacher, had them running around the field five times, which was enough to leave even the most energetic of students winded. After the grueling workout, the class was given a short break to catch their breath.
Shubman wiped the sweat from his forehead, his eyes scanning the field when he noticed Virat, the English teacher, walking over from the nearby building. An idea popped into his head, and a smirk spread across his face.
Yesterday, I saw Rohit sir and Ishan sir talking a little too closely during lunch, Shubman thought, remembering how he had misinterpreted their casual conversation as flirting. If it’s fair for Rohit to flirt with Ishan, then it’s only fair for me to flirt with Virat sir. After all, he’s one of my favorite teachers... always easy on me.
Abhishek had already left a few minutes before, heading over to talk to Mayank—more like flirt, Shubman thought. So, he was free to execute his plan without interruption.
Virat, walking across the field, was almost within arm’s reach when Shubman stepped into his path, pretending to stretch.
“Hey, Virat sir,” Shubman said smoothly, his voice laced with casual charm. “You know, I’ve always admired how you carry yourself. You make English seem so effortless.”
Virat, who had been about to walk past him, slowed and raised an eyebrow, a faint smile playing on his lips. “Oh? Well, thank you, Shubman. I’m glad someone’s paying attention.”
As Virat chuckled, Shubman leaned in slightly, his smile widening. “I’m not just paying attention to your teaching, sir,” he added with a playful wink. “You’ve got this... certain charisma. It’s hard to ignore.”
Virat chuckled again, but before he could respond, Rohit, who had noticed the exchange from across the field, stormed over with a frown. “Shubman, what do you think you’re doing? Wasting time when you should be—”
But before Rohit could finish his reprimand, Virat smoothly cut him off. “It’s alright, Rohit. Let the kid enjoy his break. He’s not hurting anyone.”
Rohit paused, looking between Virat and Shubman. He opened his mouth to argue, but seeing Virat’s calm demeanor, he reluctantly nodded, shaking his head. “Fine, fine. Just don’t make it a habit, Shubman.”
Shubman smirked, watching Rohit walk away in defeat. He felt a rush of victory, knowing his playful approach had worked. Just like that, I’ve turned the tables. Who’s flirting now, huh?
Virat looked at him with a raised brow but said nothing, giving him a small smile. “You’re a confident one, I’ll give you that.”
Shubman grinned, leaning back casually. “I’ve learned from the best, sir.”
As Virat walked away, Shubman felt a strange sense of triumph, enjoying the playful banter.
Meanwhile with Abhi and Mayu :
Abhishek had been making his way toward Mayank, who was sitting on the bleachers, quietly watching the other students. Abhishek, with his usual confidence, took a deep breath and walked over, deciding to strike up a conversation.
“Hey, Mayank,” Abhishek began, flashing a friendly grin. “I noticed you were pretty calm during the run. You’ve got some serious focus.”
Mayank looked up, surprised but smiling gently. “Oh, thanks... I guess I just like to keep my pace steady.”
Abhishek nodded, impressed by his modesty. “You’ve got a great way about you. And those eyes...” he added, his tone smooth and sincere. “They’re really striking. I bet you’ve had people tell you that before.”
