Note: This is the first chapter. Starts out slow, but stick with me! It gets better; I promise! Enjoy.
It gets interesting around chapter "The End is Near!"
BTW: This is unedited! :)
I twirled around in circles; arms outstretched and face toward the sun. My eyes were shut and the cool summer breeze whooshed over my face. My sister laughed as she chased bubbles through the yard, trying to beat our dog, Max to them. I sat in the dark green grass. It tickled my legs. The smell of charcoal in my nose mixed with the smell of perfume and freshly mowed lawns. I sighed and fell backwards, laying in the grass as if it were winter and I were going to make a snow angel. I can still see Mom mouth the words "Come and eat!" With her big, white, smile. Though, I can no longer hear them. I can't hear much. Anymore.
I think it's days like that I miss the most. The sun. The grill. The fresh breeze. Going to the movies at night with my friends. I miss the rainy days and the way they smelled. Bug spray. And I miss the leaves in fall. Carving Jack-O-Lanterns and the first snowflakes of December. I miss the candlelit nights before Christmas. The way the tree glowed. And most of all, I miss my family. Their faces lighting up at their presents and the way they looked at me when I opened mine. I wish it could all come back. Here's my story...or at least what I remember.
I remember Shannon being there. I had grown up with her.
I was born into a medium sized down. I lived in a big neighborhood with plenty of friends. We all used to play.
"TAG!" Shannon squealed with joy as she sprinted to avoid the oncoming barrage of waving arms as I tried to tag her back. "No tag backs! No tag backs!" She laughed as I continued to chase her. As quickly as her tiny legs could carry her, she hopped onto her bright pink bike and began to peddle, her long brown hair blowing behind her. I narrowed my eyes and quickly ran over to my own bike. The training wheels had just been removed by my dad. Although I wobbled at first, I quickly caught up to her. We played like that all day. We stayed friends up until my teenage years on my sixteenth birthday. I guess you could say we will always be friends.
Shannon wasn't my only friend, though. I had a lot of others. There was Ricky, Chris, Ashley, Garret, and well...lot's of people at school. I loved high school. I was in track, volleyball, and Marines JROTC. Pretty much everyone liked me. And then there was Derick. He loved me. Derick's my boyfriend, and I hope he always will be. I remember the football games where we used to sit in the bleachers, cuddled up in his jacket. It was always pretty cold, you know? Then he would drive me back to his house or to a nice restaurant where we would eat dinner before he took me back home. Ten sharp! That's what Dad always said. I remember the one time we were late.
Derick said that he wanted to go somewhere different. We went to this really nice restaurant. I had...I don't remember. But Derick; he had spaghetti. His favorite. The waiter took so long to bring out our food that we ended up coming home a whole hour late! Dad came out with a really mad look on his face. I guess you could say that I have, like, the coolest dad in the world 'cuz he forgave Derick and me really easily. Now that I think about it, Derick was there too. Derick and Shannon. I don't know what happened though...it starts to come back, but then. Then I just forget all over and I'm left alone with the stars.
