"Dada" said Harry, smiling proudly. Albus smiled, feeling pleasantly surprised. "That's right, Harry, that is your daddy, well done!" Albus praised. "Severus, is that his first word?"
"No, it's his second, though it's the same as the first. He said his first last night" Severus responded. What he didn't mention was that he had written it down.
"Oh, wow!" Albus exclaimed, grinning at Harry. "Very impressive!" He then turned to Severus, who was in the process of brewing his third lot of dreamless sleep. "Harry's birthday is coming up soon, you know. July 31st. And Dudley's is coming up even sooner, July 20th!"
Feeling annoyed, Severus turned to face him "You're telling me that this boy's birthday is in just a few days, and you haven't told me before now?"
"Don't worry, Severus, I'll pop round on both their birthday's and shower them with gifts. In fact, you should bring them to Hogwarts on those days, and we could set up a bouncy castle on the Quidditch pitch!"
"Albus, neither of the boys can even walk yet; I highly doubt they'll be bouncing around on a bouncy castle".
"Ah, yes, part of the reason I came here. I've brought you some of those things that encourage young children to walk. I believe they're some sort of baby walker. You simply place them in, secure them, and off they'll go! It's quite the clever device,I must say, that the muggles have invented!"
"Yes, but Albus, it's hardly going to be a miracle worker. It won't have them up and about by his birthday. No bouncy castle".
"Fine. But it'll still be at Hogwarts. We can do pass the parcel and whatnot. All the Hogwarts staff will be there too; I've already invited them. There's no need to discuss this any further. Now, how's your day going, my boy?"
Severus inwardly groaned. "What time will we need to be there?"
"One in the afternoon. It'll end at seven".
Severus couldn't believe his ears. Six hours in the boiling heat with people who hated him, didn't trust him, and who probably wished him dead. To celebrate a Potter relative.
"Fine. We will be there" he reluctantly agreed.
