Today, Severus decided, as he woke up the next morning, was going to be a nice, relaxed day at home. He'd brew some potions, whilst Harry and Dudley would play quietly. He'd get more done that way, and he'd also be able to truthfully say to Dumbledore when he next saw him that both boys were really happy, well-fed, and had plenty of playtime.
He went into the boys bedroom to the same sight he saw every morning - Dudley still fast asleep, and Harry wide awake and staring at the door, silent as always. Severus went over to Harry and changed his clothes and nappy first. He changed him into a green short sleeved T-shirt that had the Hogwarts school crest covering the front, and the word 'Slytherin' written across the middle of the back in shiny silver lettering. He was then also dressed in a pair of dark blue denim shorts.
Next, Severus had to awaken Dudley. As per usual, Dudley started crying at the top of his lungs and bashing his fat little fists against Severus' chest. Painfully hard. Severus sighed. It wasn't even that early - it was 8 am - and Dudley both hated being woken up and put to bed.
' Make your mind up' Severus thought. ' This is exhausting'.
He dressed Dudley in a dark purple t-shirt that had 'Angry Birds' written across the back, and had a picture of a red, cross-looking bird on the front. Severus didn't know what made this bird angry, or why it mentioned more than one angry bird on the back, but that's muggles for you, he supposed. Making up ridiculous notions about birds.
He finished dressing Dudley in a pair of bright yellow denim shorts, before scooping them both up, one on each hip, and carrying them both into the kitchen and placing them in their highchairs for breakfast.
