I stood there, staring at the couch , realizing he never came to bed that night.. and I didn't blame him, not after how I lashed out. ..

He broke a rule, I confirmed it, and that's that..

I stood in the elevator, listening to the sound of the floors go up, numb around other workers that stood near me on their phones.
I didn't think he'd just.. leave.

I quietly walked into the office, unable to help my attention as it went to his desk, but he wasn't there. Tao was typing opposite to his desk, I went over and gently put my bag down before asking him,

"Morning everyone , where's Charlie?"

Tao looked at Elle and Aled looked from them to me , disappointed as he said lowly..
"He quit.."

I stared, my heart dropping in an instant.
"Why?" I said

"Probably because of the manager.. he filed a complaint against him and a S.A. Complaint too. . He said he was trying to get enough evidence and proof so he could get him resigned when he finally turned the report in.. " Elle explained.
Tao nodded, looking defeated.
"I guess he couldn't take it anymore regardless and decided to leave first.."

I stared as I sat down, my brow furrowed, confused and lost..

So .. That's why he had been entertaining him ? To be able to report him..
So he never... and he didn't..

I stood up abruptly grabbing my bag as I hurried out of the office, Tao and Elle calling after me. But I ignored them..

I pulled into the parking lot at Charlie's apartment complex and slammed my door shut , locking it as I ran down the side walk and towards the buildings, eventually coming to his.

I knocked on the door in a hurry, my breathing ragged and panicking.
He has to be home
He has to be.

No answer.

I felt the panic and fear set in,
I knocked again
"Charlie it's me, please open up" I called out.
I knocked again.

Silence...

"Charlie please " I pleaded , knocking on it.

I leaned my forehead against the door, defeated..

He refused to open up, and I couldn't blame him for it..

" Charlie.. I'm so sorry... I'm so so sorry.. I didn't know, you didn't Say anything. I should've trusted you, I don't know why I said those things .. I just.. I .."
I could feel the knot in my throat form, the chill of the wind picking up outside.
I felt my tears build in frustration.

" I was so jealous .. and so hurt.. I just wanted you to myself.." I said , my hand flat against the door.
I sighed, my head dropped in defeat..
