The whole room was in shock about what just happened. Some couldn't take their eyes off the spirits when some started whispering to each other. Just how strong was the adopted duke's daughter? They watched as Christopher took her hand once more and led her back to the dancefloor. The spirits twisting and twirling around their heads like they were already dancing.
The scene before everyone's eyes was something majestic. The future king and queen of their kingdom danced together with elemental spirits floating all around them giggling. The one thing that they could agree on was that their kingdom had just been blessed by the goddess. No one knew what was going to happen in the future, but everything felt like it was going to be ok in the future.
Lily spent most of the ball dancing. Switching partners from her brother and Chris. She even had one dance with her dad. When her feet could take no more she excused herself to the drinks to take a short break. She was too busy admiring the small cakes that were well made to notice the small group of girls that had gathered around her.
"Good evening crown princess, Liliana Kingsley. My name is Beatrice Monoma. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, my lady."
Lily turned around to see a young girl with dark brown hair and brown eyes giving her a gentle smile and a crusty. Six or seven other girls stood around her. They all have a similar greeting and a curtsy as a sign of respect. Lily smiles in return not feeling any hate or judgment in her tone.
"It's a pleasure to meet you ladies as well. Are you all enjoying the ball?"
Their eyes seemed to sparkle at how Lily reacted to them. Eager to converse and get to know their future queen they quickly replied.
"Yes, my lady, tonight's ball has been nothing but exquisite," Beatrice spoke up as she held her hands to her chest in a swooning manner.
"Oh yes, my lady's magic display was simply beautiful." Another girl in the crowd spoke.
"Yes, my lady made fairies! They are so cute!" Another girl exclaimed.
"The princess is very loved by the goddess. The duke must be so proud."
Lily let out a small giggle at their eagerness to talk with her. Although their compliments were a bit much, she was glad to have girls her age to talk with for once. Their happy faces and sparkling eyes helped ease Lily's nerves and she started to relax.
"They aren't fairies but elemental spirits. Fairies are a species while spirits are beings created out of strong mana that have their conscience."
Their eyes seemed to sparkle more at my description and they began asking me more questions about them. I let them meet them and introduced them to the girls who gushed over how cute they were. For some reason, the spirits did not allow them to touch them but they kept touching me without my permission.
A few more girls decided to join their group after the spirits left to mingle a little more and dance freely. They seemed to have different personalities, but all of them loved the attention and compliments they were getting. The three new girls were smiling but did not have a happy smile. Lily internally sighed as she could already feel the teenage drama about to unfold. She simply smiled at them in greetings. As she was mentally early thirties with the body of a fifteen-year-old, she could take whatever they threw at her.
"It's lovely to finally meet you lady Kingsley. Some of us were starting to wonder if you were simply a rumor since the duke never lets you leave the duke's estate. All your noble classes must have taken up all your time."
Her smile was wicked and she had red eyes that glowed like rubies and flowing red hair that was curled tightly. She had different rings and bracelets covered in small and large jewels of different colors. Her ball gown was red to match her hair and also covered in fancy jewels. She kinda looked like a display case in a store trying to sell jewels. Lily had to stifle a giggle at her thoughts to not be rude. The redhead seemed to glare when her attempt to provoke her failed.
"Yes, you're right. I've been taking many different classes while on the Duke's estate. Thankfully mother is very kind and patient with me. I've also had the fortune of taking magic lessons here in the castle for the last five years with Sir Elros. He's such a great and creative teacher. I look forward to his lessons the most."
Lily gave her a gently innocent smile as she gave her reply. Her way of calling the Dutches mother instead of her title and calling Elros his name instead of royal mage. She subtly let them know that she had a great relationship with her family and also had strong connections with the palace.
"I'm glad to know you are spending your time wisely. My name is Elizabeth Cecil. My father is Marquess Franklin Cecil. We own most of the jewel mines in the Luminara kingdom."
Ahh, so that explains the outrageous amount of jewels decorating her body. She pretty much is a walking display of products.
"Ahh yes, I've heard of your family. It's very nice to meet you lady Cecil."
Before she could say another reply, she felt a small tap on her shoulder.
"Sister, are you ready to go back home yet?"
She turned fully to face her brother. His posture was straight and he paid no mind to the girls surrounding them. My brother's face was stone and no emotions could be seen in his eyes. He was a true noble just like father. Never showing any weakness.
"Yes, let's go back home." She turned back to the girls. "It was so nice meeting everyone. Maybe we can have tea another time."
She gave a gentle smile before taking her brother's arm and leaving the ballroom. She had wanted to say goodbye to Chris, but he was surrounded by nobles at this point. Oh well, she would see him again soon anyway.
