Over the next few weeks, Lily had been getting letters almost daily. Most were invites to different parties and gatherings. Others were simple greetings and wishes of good health. Weirdly she had a few love confessions but just threw them in the fire as she had no desire to deal with any more drama.
Not wanting to be rude she would reply to all of them, except the love letters. She nicely denied large parties but decided to go to a few simple small gatherings. The first one was at a tea shop in town. It only served nobility and had a high star rating among those with high prices. She was curious about the different desserts and services in a tea shop of this century.
Her maids helped her get dressed and her brother Alex escorted her. He didn't like her leaving the estate alone with only a few guards and decided he was coming the minute she told him her plans. She rode in a large garage with cushioned seats as they talked comfortably on the way. When they made it to town, Lily couldn't help but stare out the windows and ask questions about the different buildings. She had seen town before, but only from above. Deciding to let his sister see more of the town before they made it to their destination, Alex called for the coach to stop and insisted on walking the rest of the way. He said he needed to stretch his legs and Lily happily agreed. They walked past a few stores looking through the windows to see what was inside. With one arm dropped casually through her brothers to make sure she didn't wander off, they happily strolled through town. The happy moment ended when Lily heard a soft wine coming from behind a large trashcan.
She slowly walked behind it to get a better look when she spotted two small puppies curled up against each other. One was black and the other was pure white. The poor things looked hungry and hurt. I looked over at my brother giving him my best begging face before he gave in.
"Fine you can keep them, but you telling Dad. They don't look like they have an owner or parent so they'll be in good hands with you."
He gave her a gentle smile and she rushed to hug him before carefully picking up the puppies and pulling them further into the alley to not risk causing a scene. She quickly healed their wounds first before using her water and wind magic to give them a quick rinse and dry them off. Alex held the small black puppy and Lily held onto the little white one as they joined arms once more and kept walking to the tea house.
When they walked into the shop, the greeter took one look at Alex before she began to greet them both with a smile. When Lily introduced herself the lady's smile widened as she greeted the crown princess with extra kindness. Lily saw how the woman's eyes drifted to the puppies in a look of concern before deciding to not say anything against the next duke and queen and escorted them to their table. The other ladies stood from their chairs when they saw Lily walk inside. Most of them started blushing at seeing her brother as they watched him pull out a chair for her and push in back onto the table. Once she was seated he handed her the little black puppy before walking away to another table to greet a few noblemen he saw when they walked in. He never intended to stay for the girl talk anyway.
At the sight of the puppies, the girls lost all focus on Alex and began gushing over how cute and tiny they were. Most of the girls said that they weren't allowed to have pets due to their mother's or father's opinions. At the mention of pets, Lily couldn't help but talk about Alaska and Drago. The girls listened intently as Lily explained their behaviors and how they doted on her. She loved them so much and it could be seen by the others as she talked about them with great joy.
Caught up in their chatting they heard a loud commotion coming from outside. A few of the men there stood up and left to get a look at what was going on, while most of them just kept drinking tea and chatting like it had nothing to do with them. Starting to get anxious since Alex had not returned in over ten minutes from going to check outside, Lily decided to go look for herself. The other ladies tried to change her mind but Lily was dead set to see what was so loud. The girls agreed to watch the cute puppies while Lily stepped away for a moment as they all started petting and feeding them snacks from their plates. They would be chubby monsters before she made it back home.
Quickly rushing outside, Lily ran into a crowd of people as she tried to see what they were all looking at.
A large black wolf, slightly smaller than a horse was in the middle of town. Her eyes were glowing purple and I could feel the mana leaking from her angered state. The shadows around her body were moving and her teeth were on display in a warning. A few men with swords surrounded her and she was seconds away from retaliating. She didn't look feral she looked angry. Why would a large magical beast like herself come right into town? Lily watched as her brother was one of the men holding a sword and inching closer to the wolf. Panicking Lily ran in front of the wolf with her back facing it and forcing her mana to spread throughout the crowd. She needed to calm everyone down quickly and then feeling her mana was the best way to do that.
"STOP!!"
