The ball at the castle was tomorrow. Lily laid in the garden surrounded by flowers as she looked up to the clouds praying for there to be a storm tomorrow. Her familiars were resting not too far away from her as she was left in her own little world. Her mind raced over what was to come tomorrow.

Her brother Alex had told her that there was to be a huge festival in her honor that would last at least a few days straight. The king wasted no expense and bought barrels of drinks and whole pigs that would become a feast for the towns people that wouldn't be able to attend the party at the castle. He wanted the whole kingdom to rejoice in her honor and the pressure that she felt to make a good first impression had more than tripled after she had learned this. She had only met the king once when she was ten and was named a princess that very day. Her fears of the judgmental looks she would receive and the gossip about her that would spread and ruin her father's great name made her dizzy.

Everyone in the estate could see the nerves of the girl and repeatedly told her that she had nothing to fear. She was a child that was so easy to love that nobody could imagine someone hating her except Lily herself of course. Since she never went to public outings, there was no way for her to know just how happy people were to actually get to meet her. Like a celebrity in name that everyone wanted to put a face to.

She was also having a hard time wrapping her brain over the fact that she would be meeting the man that would possibly become her husband one day. Making her the next queen of a nation. Her past life was all forgotten memories that she tried not to think about, but she had always been alone. How could someone like her help rule over so many people. She didn't believe she was qualified for such an honor and feared how the nobles would react to a commoner ruling over them.

She lifted her hand as she made birds made of fire appear out of thin air. They looked like flaming phoenixes flapping their wings and they flew in circles above where she laid. She had received a letter from the king a week ago that let her know that he wanted her to display her blessing at the ball. She knew it was only to show off and to reassure the nobles that she had the power to protect them from enemies if the time came.

Alaska and Drago had to stay at the dukes estate since they would bring to much attention and the duke was worried about how they would react to being surrounded by unfamiliar people that would do anything just to touch them. Lily agreed, although she was sad they couldn't stay with her.

As she watched the flaming birds flap their wings she kept trying to figure out what she should do to impress the nobles. She knew now that normal blessing required chants and weren't usually anything creative. The same old spells used for hundreds of years never changed much. It didn't help that the normal person didn't have much mana to do many spells anyway unless you had a strong blessing.

She would have to prove that she had a strong enough blessing to stand as their future queen, but not show off too much to make them hate her. Her brain throbbed as she tried to think of what she could do.

For some unknown reason to herself, she could not use chants. She tried to copy Alex once but everything he said sounded like another language to her and for some reason she couldn't repeat it. Her brother told her that the chants were in the same language as they speak, but her brain translated them differently. Almost like she wasn't aloud to use chants.

Her magic aloud her to do almost anything she could out her mind to if she could picture it vividly enough, but she was never able to use the same magic as everyone else. She copied a fireball that her brother made one time, but hers was different. To her it seemed more controlled than his. Was it because he was using borrowed magic spells from the old kings before them so they were weaker and less developed. She couldn't say, but she knew that her magic worked differently than everyone she had met.

There was an old book in their library that spoke about elemental spirits. They were born naturally in areas where strong elemental magic had gathered. She began to wonder if she would be able to gather enough elemental power to create a new spirit. She pondered on the probability to succeed for a while longer before she made her way back to inside and into her bedroom. She would need as much sleep as she could get as she knew her maids would wake her early the next day to start preparing her.

She tried not to let her thoughts wonder off anymore as she closed her eyes and welcomed the sweet blissful sleep that followed.
