Virat lay stretched out on his bed in his hotel room.. his gaze drifted between the flickering television screen and the ceiling as his mind wandered.

His mind was elsewhere, absorbed in thoughts that seemed to grow darker with the passing moments.

His left hand, freshly bandaged and rested gingerly on a pillow beside him. The wound still ached, the dull throb serving as a reminder of the recent encounter that had left its mark.

He glanced at the hand, the bright white of the bandage stark against his skin, as if trying to make sense of the pain that now felt all too familiar.

The sports channel had aired a live broadcast of the day's game, with Mahi delivering his presentation. The commentators' voices had filled the room, but they had barely registered in Virat's mind.

Normally, he'd feel a surge of relief, a fierce satisfaction, after avoiding a clean sweep, especially after the losses of four match.

But today, the victory barely touched him.

Instead, his thoughts circled around something, or rather, someone far removed from the today's match.

He could picture Mahi now, probably on his way back to the hotel, his features likely set in that quiet, intense look he wore whenever something weighed on him.

Mahi had been on edge since the beginning of the series, he were carrying a burden no one else could see.

A low sigh slipped past Virat's lips as he rolled onto his side, a hollow ache taking root in his chest. He knew Mahi well enough to see past the stoic exterior, past the dismissive, that he'd mastered.

But yesterday Virat felt different, as though there was something far deeper lurking behind Mahi's silence, something he was determined to keep hidden.

Virat lay restless on his bed, his mind returning to the previous night. The attack had been sudden and chaotic, leaving him shaken.

The guards had arrived almost instantly, as if anticipating trouble. He recalled Mahi's explanation.. the security was arranged due to the backlash over the series loss "for safety."

He'd hit two centuries in the series singlehandedly keeping the team afloat during their struggles. Yet, people had attacked him? It didn't make sense.

"If this was about the public's anger over the losses" he thought "why wasn't the whole team given security? And if management arranged it, why wasn't there an FIR against the attackers?"

His eyes flicked to the door, knowing the guards stood silently outside. Their presence, stationed only at his room, felt almost suffocating. No one else on the team had security like this. "Why me?" he wondered.

A creeping suspicion began to form in his mind, one that grew sharper with each unanswered question.

Virat took a slow, steadying breath, trying to calm the turmoil within him. He couldn't shake the feeling that something larger was at play, something Mahi was keeping from him, hidden behind his quiet strength and guarded silences.

And as much as it infuriated him, as much as he resented being left in the dark, a part of him understood.

But this time, Virat wasn't going to stand by and wasn't going to accept Mahi's silence and secrecy. He deserved answers.
