A Boring School Day

I sat in English class and sighed as the teacher scrawled nonsense on the old style chalk board. The new school year had begun and since I was new to America, I had quite the hard time gaining new friends. I was shy at times but tried to be friendly. I wanted to make the best out of the situation. At times I missed my home. Since the change I'd have occasional lapses of depression. I wish I had more friends around here. I want to be happier and feel at home. Why is it so hard? I staightened my back, I wouldn't let these thoughts bring me down. I then heard the teacher clear her throat and gulped.
"Jake?" The teacher asked, causing me to blink out of my daze. I noticed every one was staring. Oh golly they're probably expecting an answer to something.
"Yes?" I asked in a questioning tone. All these eyes on me. Augh.
"Please focus, I wouldn't want you to fall behind." She said kindly and I nodded.
"Yes, of course Miss." I replied and she smiled nicely and continued with the lesson. I sighed with relief. I thought I was going to be prodded with questions but I guess not. I then felt a pair of eyes on me and I curiously faced towards the feeling. A boy was staring at me through pointy shades which hid his eyes, a blush on his face. He quickly looked away, and I made a confused face. He had headphones in that were blaring rap music and he seemed to be indulged in drawing something. I noticed his thick blonde unique styled hair and dark edgy style of clothing. I averted my eyes. I decided to shrug off the small encounter. It probably wasn't something to be concerned about. I then focused my attention towards the lesson as my thoughts drifted. I wonder why that mysterious boy was looking at me. . .
