I walked through the front doors of the school, headphones in my ears. I tried to ignore the feeling I was being stared at although it was true. I walked past a group of girls and I gave them a creeped out look since they were whispering to each other and watching me. One of the girls noticed this and blushed, averting her eyes from mine. Half of this school started to weird me out not just the attention, but also the strange people that went here. Like Dirk for instance. He had this vibe about him that you want to be near him, although he didn't talk to anyone if he didn't know them well enough. You could tell he had trust issues, and always tended to wear those unique shades that hid his eye color. All in all he was a mysterious or shady person. But he's my friend. And my crush. The last thought made me blush and I stopped in front of my locker. I shook the thought away and put in my combination whilst pulling open my locker door.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and I jumped a bit. I pulled out my headphones and turned. I had honestly expected Dirk but it was Jane. I wasn't disappointed since I knew Dirk was a constant shadow that seemed to find me whenever he needed.
"Good morning to you Jane." I said and smiled. Her blue eyes were one of the main things that caught my interest. I had never seen that shade of blue before.
"Hiya Jake. Did you think about what I mentioned about joining choir?" she asked, smiling the whole time. I scratched lightly at the back of my neck, twirling a lock of my hair which was a nervous habit. She made me anxious and I didn't exactly know why.
"Yes I have actually and I spoke to Dirk about it as well. So I guess I'll be needing that uniform." I stated and pulled a smile. She squealed happily and shocked me by hugging me. I hugged her back, slightly blushing. Once the hug had ended, she surprised me yet again by kissing me on the cheek.
"Wow Jane, I can't believe how excited you are about this. . .But I'm glad I made you happy" She giggled at this and gave an awkward shrug.
"Sorry Jake I get excited. But honestly, you pretty much made my day! I mean, you're so talented and with you and Dirk, our best male singers by the way, we'll be able to travel to represent the entire school!" I blinked at this new information, lightly holding my cheek where Jane had kissed me.
"That's amazing Jane. I'm glad I can help out, considering you know I'm new and all." I knew I was being awkward but then again I wasn't the most social of the butterflies. The bell rang and Jane cringed.
"Crap, I can't afford to be late again. Talk to you later Jake!" She hurriedly said, giving a quick wave and running to her class. I sighed, taking out my textbooks and closed my locker and leaned my head against the cool metal.
Dirk, now Jane?! I can't and don't want to be one of those guys. The kind who end up in romantic triangles or ends up juggling crushes. I don't even want to think about drama, let alone I can barely handle being around Dirk in general. I'm literally too awkward to even consider those possibilities!
"What are you doing to yourself Jake?" I muttered softly to myself, putting my headphones in to blare out my incessant thinking whilst walking at a slow pace to my next boring class.
