I awoke with Dirk eagerly shaking me by my shoulders. I reflexively moaned and pulled the covers over my head. I could hear him chuckle and I suddenly blushed. I had forgotten I had spent the night at Dirk's. I slowly pulled down the blanket covering my head, giving him a sheepish smile. Feeling a tad silly, I sat up quickly while pretending to stretch. I hoped he wouldn't notice my blushing.

"So Sleeping Beauty decided to wake up." he said as I gave him a quick glance. He saw my expression and smiled.

"I didn't mind waiting for you to wake up." he said, giving a quick smirk and letting a yawn escape his lips.

"What time is it? I wasn't asleep for too long was I?!" I asked in a panic voice, searching for my phone. I realized the curtains were closed. I managed to catch a glimpse of light protruding from beneath the dark curtains. He seems to enjoy the dark. Dirk suddenly chuckled.

"You weren't asleep for long. I just honestly missed your company." he stated, looking at me directly in the eyes behind those dark tinted sunglasses of his. I remembered a part of my dream. His eyes consumed me like flames. I ignored the thought, reminding myself I couldn't possibly know what color his eyes were yet. He would tell me when he felt like he wanted to.

"Haha well I'm glad to hear that mate." I said, grabbing my glasses from the nightstand near me, slipping them on my nose and checking my phone. No signal. I shrugged, turning it off since I figured it would be useless for a while. I turned to find Dirk inspecting me with an unreadable look on his face. He smiled and I couldn't help but wonder what was on his mind. I smiled kindly back. I didn't want to think on it too much.

"So Jake, ready for a morning with the Striders?" he asked, that sarcastic tone in his voice as always. I laughed. That look on his face. I couldn't place it.

"We might as well find out." I said as if it were a challenge. He tapped on his left sunglass lense. I took it as he accepted. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to learn more about him.

"I agree. Well I'll leave you to get ready." he said simply, quietly stepping out of the room. I was left in silence as the only sound to comfort me was the slow click of the door and my own breathing. I couldn't help but break into a smile. He made me so happy without even realizing. I recalled his features in my head, how his hair looked messy, and many of the memories I had of him in general. An image quickly flashed through my mind, my smile faltered. I blinked and looked around the empty room. Somehow, there was something familiar about this blonde boy. I laughed it off to myself. Don't be weird Jake.
