The tension in the room was palpable, thick with years of betrayal and unspoken emotions. Ra's al Ghul, ever the cold strategist, watched his daughter with an unreadable expression, his presence oppressive and unyielding.
"As a young child, you displayed the panache of a thief," Ra's' voice echoed in the chamber, his words carrying a venomous nostalgia. "Always stealing extra atayef at your meals, stowing them away in your quarters like a secret treasure."
Nyssa's eyes flickered momentarily, a flash of memories long buried surfacing-of a time when she was nothing more than an obedient shadow under her father's watchful eye. .
"I will remember you as the warrior you once were, not this shell that stands before me."
Her breath was steady, her voice unwavering as she replied, "I've lived my entire life in fear of you. But now, as I stand before you, ready to leave this earth, I want you to know... I am not afraid."
Ra's studied her, his eyes calculating every word, every movement. He said nothing for a moment, just watching her with that familiar cold intensity, as if deciding whether to tear her down with words or with something more.
"Do what needs to be done, my heir," he finally said, his voice as chilling as a blade's edge. "And take with it the satisfaction that your reign will be unchallenged."
Nyssa held his gaze, unblinking, unflinching. "You've failed, Father. I am no longer your heir."
"I can see now, you do not require a culling to solidify your reign. You have broken your rival, Al Sah-him. Something I was unable to do as an heir."
He continues.
"Spilling her blood now would only serve as gluttony," Ra's continued, his voice dark, his tone unyielding. "Now, perhaps her blood could be of another purpose." He gestures for Nyssa to stand up.
Slowly, she did.
"As a means to unite our families. You as husband." Looks to Oliver then to Nyssa. "And you as wife."
The words were poison, dripping from his lips with the force of a dagger. Nyssa's stomach twisted in revulsion, but she refused to let it show. She clenched her fists at her sides, her voice low, yet laced with defiance. "I would rather die than become his betrothed."
Ra's' eyes darkened, narrowing to slits, and the air around them seemed to freeze. "Your wishes were no longer my concern from the moment you betrayed me."
Betrayal. The word stung, a wound that would never heal. She had left the League. She had defied her father, chosen a different path. And for that, she would never be forgiven.
