"Sorry, I was right about your friend."

"You weren't." Dick said. "Kory's not a killer."

Donna responded with an incredulous look.

He continues. "I mean, she's killed people sometimes-but's that's different, it was for a bigger purpose. It wasn't just to kill them for the sake of killing."

It wasn't helping his case. "Well according to the translation, killing Rachel does have a purpose, so it stands to reason-"

He cuts her off. "It just doesn't make any sense. Kory Loves Rachel, she's done nothing but try to help and protect her at this point." Huffing. "What we saw back there, that wasn't the real Kory."

Donna had to smirk. "So, you're sleeping with her, then?"

"I didn't sleep with her," Dick said, his voice defensive.

Donna raised a skeptical brow, a playful grin tugging at the corner of her mouth. "Please. You don't have to lie."

Dick hesitated, glancing out the window before muttering, "I didn't sleep with her because I was talking with Zoya."

"Oh." Donna's tone shifted instantly, her teasing taking a backseat to curiosity. "Okay."

Her fingers drummed rhythmically against the steering wheel as she processed the unexpected mention of Zoya. The knowing grin returned to her face, though she kept it subtle.

"Well, that clears things up," she said breezily. "Still not helping your case, though."

Dick sighs, leaning back against the seat and rubbing the bridge of his nose. "It's not about clearing my case. Kory's not a killer. I don't care what that translation says. She wouldn't do this."

Donna's grin widened slightly, though she hid it by focusing on the road. She wasn't surprised by the defense—Dick always had a way of protecting the people he cared about. Still, she couldn't entirely keep her amusement at bay. His quick deflection to Zoya, that subtle hesitance in his voice—it wasn't anything new to her. She'd known for years where his heart had leaned, even if he stubbornly refused to acknowledge it outright.

Not now, though. She'd let it simmer for a bit longer.

"Okay, sure. Let's just figure out what's going on with Kory first." Her voice was light, playful, though her eyes glimmered with warmth when she glanced at Dick through the rearview mirror.

Dick furrowed his brows at her sudden shift in tone, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. For a moment, it looked like he might call her out on it, but he shook his head and let it go, muttering, "You're acting weird."
