Titans Tower
The garage was quiet except for the hum of the vent. Jason worked on his bike, the wrench tight in his hands, trying to focus on something—anything—other than the storm brewing inside him. The accusations. The judgment. It doesn't matter if he justify himself, it wouldn't matter anyway.
His hands shook slightly, but he wasn't sure if it was from the anger or the frustration that had built up over the past few days.
The door creaked open, and Jason didn't need to look up to know who it was. He felt the familiar presence before he heard her voice.
Zoya stepped inside, her silhouette framed by the harsh light outside. Jason didn't have the patience for her today. Not after everything that had happened.
"I'm not in the mood for a lecture," Jason muttered, his voice low and rough.
Zoya didn't flinch at his tone. She never did. Instead, she walked closer, her footsteps measured, purposeful. "I'm not here to lecture you, Jason," she said, her voice calm, yet there was something in it—a quiet conviction that made Jason's gut twist.
He braced himself, already anticipating the disappointment in her eyes. But instead of the judgment he expected, she continued, her voice softening, "I'm here because I believe you."
"Bullshit, you're just saying that."
Zoya met his stare without hesitation, her expression open and sincere. "I believe you," she repeated. "I don't think you did those things."
Jason's breath hitched in his throat. There it was—what no one else had said to him. Not Kory, not Gar, not Rachel. They all thought the worst of him. But Zoya...
"Why the hell would you believe me?" His words came out rough, thick with a mix of anger and something else—something raw.
Zoya stepped closer, the space between them closing as she spoke with an unwavering gentleness. "Because I know you, Jason. I've seen the good in you—the real you. And that's what matters, not what everyone else thinks. You're not what they say you are."
Jason's eyes narrowed, heart pounding as she got through to him, despite everything. "You sure about that?" His voice cracked slightly, though he tried to mask it with a forced sneer.
Zoya didn't back away. She stood her ground. "I'm sure. I know what it's like to be misunderstood, Jason. I know how it feels to be judged before anyone even knows the truth.""
There was a long silence, heavy with emotion, as Jason let her words settle in. He couldn't remember the last time anyone had told him something like that. He wanted to push her away, to tell her to leave, to not get wrapped up in his mess. But something in her presence, something in her unwavering belief, made it hard to dismiss her.
