The first souls entered the hall, accompanied by a soft glow that revealed their divine nature. They were the recently deceased from the human world, and now their fate stood on the celestial scales, balanced between light and darkness.
Seraphiel, Metatron and Jegudiel regarded the souls with serious expressions as they carefully scrutinized their actions and thoughts.
The first soul, a young man of noble appearance, stepped before the throne of the heavenly judges. His gaze was humble, but his heart trembled with fear of the judgment that would fall upon him. He had led a life characterized by compassion and kindness, but he too had made mistakes that could not go unnoticed. Metatron raised his voice and spoke with a calm authority: "This soul has loved and suffered in its life, but it has also shown wisdom and understanding. Her deeds may not have been perfect, but her heart was pure and her spirit strove to do good. We recognize that she lived according to the commandments as far as she was able, and therefore our judgment is lenient. You will find peace among Jegudiel's ranks."
The angels of the council nodded in agreement, and the soul was enveloped in a warm light that lifted it into the arms of divine peace.
The next soul to appear before the heavenly judges was surrounded by a gloomy glow and her step was heavy with the weight of her deeds.
Her gaze was lowered and her expression betrayed a deep remorse for her past mistakes. This soul had violated some of the holy commandments that had been given to the heavenly realms as guidelines for a righteous and godly life.
"This soul," Seraphiel's voice was strong and deep, 'has broken some of our commandments, especially the ninth commandment, which says, 'Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor,' the tenth commandment, which says, 'Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, manservant, maidservant, livestock, or anything your neighbor has,' and finally, and thus his judgment is just, against the sixth commandment, which says, 'You shall not kill'."
Those present lowered their eyes as the gravity of the soul's transgressions echoed in the silence of the hall.
The corners of Soles' mouth twitched as he sat next to Asmodeus and gave him a sideways glance. He himself loved the moment when a soul became a sinner. However, he wondered what Asmodeus was thinking about the situation and felt a certain curiosity welling up inside him.
"Stop, wait!" the condemned soul exclaimed. "You've got it all wrong! It was self-defense, the guy was abusing his wife!"
Soles watched as the tension in the room intensified and all eyes turned to the man who was desperately trying to justify his actions.
Seraphiel, his eyes shining, paused motionless, taking in the man's words with a deep seriousness. "It is not your place or your right to judge this man and steal his most cherished possession in return."
Seraphiel's words echoed through the hall like a thunderclap, and the condemned soul felt a sharp stab of anger in her heart. Her eyes widened with indignation as the angel spoke and minimized her torment.
