The silence was broken by a gentle concert of nature. Birds chirped merrily in the treetops, while the soft rustling of leaves in the wind played a soothing melody. A distant ripple suggested that a river was nearby, and the soft sound of rushing water filled the air with a gentle symphony.
The warm sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting a golden glow over Asmodeus' skin.
Asmodeus slowly opened his eyes and found himself in the middle of this paradisiacal Garden of Eden. The grass beneath him was soft and green, the air pure and filled with the sweet scent of flowers and fruit. He felt the warmth of the sun on his skin and heard the calming sound of the treetops above him.
He sat up in amazement, immediately noticed his magnificent wings and let his gaze wander over the picturesque scenery. Everything was so peaceful, so perfect, that it took his breath away for a moment. He could hardly believe that he was really in the Garden of Eden.
The colors of the garden shone in bright shades of green, interspersed with vibrant flowers in every color of the rainbow. Bees buzzed around the flowers, while butterflies fluttered through the air in elegant loops. The scent of fresh flowers and grasses filled the air, awakening Asmodeus' senses.
It was as if his memory was shrouded in a veil. He could still vividly remember the last event that brought back the pain.
He hissed, wanted to scream and curse and clawed his hands into the grass. Angry, disappointed and above all desperate, he tore out a few stalks and threw them forward. "Damn it," he cursed, alone here in this garden that many dreamed of.
His eyes filled with tears and before they burned on his cheeks, a sob escaped him.
How could all this have happened?
How had he let himself be so deceived?
Had he not realized that this behaviour was not like Benjamin?
He had let his emotions get the better of him and was now sitting here. Back in heaven in the garden he had loved so much.
But he didn't want to be here.
"Asmodeus?" a familiar, soft voice sounded.
Accompanied by a meow.
The angel immediately looked around for the sweet voice, pulled himself to his weak feet and wrapped himself in his usual celestial garb with a wave of his hand. He limped down the small hill until he spotted Elena. In her arms, she held her beloved cat, who snuggled up to her as if she would much rather cuddle than meet Asmodeus. Her hair was braided into cute pigtails and her steps were deliberate as always.
But the angel refused to let this moment pass him by, rushed towards the girl and fell to his knees in front of her. With his arms and his regained wings, he enveloped her in an embrace full of emotion.
"You're back!" Elena said quietly, but definitely joyfully. She let go of Stella, who was probably relieved not to be caught in the middle, and hissed away with a meow as the girl wrapped her little arms around Asmodeu's neck. "Did you find what you were looking for?"
