"How are you feeling?" asked Soles after he had entered his hotel room and found Asmodeus lying on the bed.

It had been a few days since the fall of the Seraph. The wounds between his shoulder blades had stopped bleeding and his upper body was still wrapped in bandages. The last few days had been tough and although Asmodeus had spent the nights and most of the days in Sole's room, the blond fallen man had not yet carried out any of his disgusting threats.

Asmodeus didn't even know what this was all about.

And there was still no sign of Benjamin.

Asmodeus lifted his gaze when he heard the familiar voice. His body automatically tensed as he tried to control his emotions. It was hard not to be overwhelmed by a mixture of anger, sadness and despair.

"I feel..." he began hesitantly, his thoughts swirling in his head as he searched for the right words. "Everything I believed in has been taken from me. My home, my family ... and even my own choices seem to have been taken from me."

He let his gaze wander around the room while he sorted his thoughts. The darkness of the hotel room reflected his inner emptiness and the silence was oppressive. He felt really bad, especially as the realization set in. He thought of Elena, who was now alone in heaven. To whom he had promised to be there for her forever.

How would she feel if he never showed up again?

When he had simply abandoned her.

Who would she be assigned to, his father?

He wouldn't want Elena in his father's care.

Never again.

"If you can whine, then you can get up and put on something nice," Soles replied impassively, pointing to the wardrobe. "We're going on an earthly excursion today."

As the former angel had not only been stripped of his wings, but also his powers and supernatural abilities, he now lived like a normal human being. Only in hell. He looked at his toes sticking out of the comforter and sighed. He didn't feel like spending time with Soles, but there was a chance he could meet Tariel. And he could use a friendly face. Someone he trusted and could explain what Seohee was really like in the first instance. Tariel wasn't allowed to trust her.

"All right," Asmodeus grumbled, rolling to his side reluctantly. He would have liked to send Soles out of the room to change, but he didn't know what would befall him, so he rose to his shaky feet. He heaved himself to the wardrobe door and pulled out random items of clothing.

Surprisingly, Soles turned back around and headed for the door to the room. "Right, I'll meet you in the entrance hall."

With these words, he loudly left the room and the door slammed shut again behind the tall man, leaving Asmodeus alone in the stifling silence.

He stared at the door for a few long seconds and finally got dressed. He wondered what Soles' plans for the day were and what part he was to play in them. He felt like a pawn in the hands of a powerful and ruthless adversary, unable to make his own decisions or control his own destiny.
