A scream of horror and agony escaped his lips as he whirled through the air, from his father's throne room down into the void. The hole that had opened like the mouth of a hungry monster transported him into darkness, swallowing him whole until for a moment he felt nothing.

Time stretched out in endless agony as he fell.

And fell.

The darkness enveloped him like a shroud.

At the same time, his father's shackles dissolved in free fall and Asmodeus felt as if he was being pulled into an infinite abyss. The air rushed past his ears as he plummeted through the void, his body free of any resistance. It was as if time stood still as he fell through the darkness, his thoughts whirling wildly, without support or direction.

After the eternity of falling, he broke through the blackness and hit the hard ground with a thud.

The pain permeated every inch of his body, his bones groaned in agony and he could barely breathe.

With trembling hands, he tried to pull himself to his feet, but his muscles shook with exhaustion and he sank back to the ground. The darkness around him seemed to crush him, and he fought against the panic that rose within him. When his vision cleared, all he saw at first was a swirl of dust particles floating through the air, stirred up by his fall. Slowly, he recognized the entrance hall of the Inferno Palace.

His eyes searched the surroundings and when his gaze fell on the desk, he recognized Seohee Morningstar in the figure sitting there, her face marked with surprise.

Soles stood next to her.

His face a mask of opaque calm. But when his eyes fell on Asmodeus, an expression of satisfaction flitted across his even features before he quickly hid it behind a façade. Nevertheless, he could not hide the amusement in his blue eyes, which were hidden behind the blond strands.

"Well, well, well," Seohee replied with equal amusement, running the quill in her hand over the paper. "We have received a new soul. What are we going to do with him?" Her gaze wandered to the document she was sitting at, where she was in the process of writing down Asmodeu's name. He could barely move due to the pain and the lack of his wings. She also didn't seem to care that the fallen angel at her feet was injured, but instead just looked up at Soles questioningly.

Asmodeus felt a mixture of shock and anger when he saw their expressions. The fact that his former best friend had betrayed and abandoned him hurt him more than the physical agony he was experiencing.

He lay there on the ground, disempowered and hurt, while she and Soles looked at him like a trophy. But deep inside him, a spark of pride still glowed, a promise to himself that he would not be defeated so easily.

Despite his hurt and his sense of betrayal, he tried to crawl away from the two people. He would not let them decide his fate, not after all he had been through. He would not allow himself to be captured and imprisoned, even if his feet felt like rubber.
