"Good morning, young master. It seems you have finally awakened."

Cale shuddered at the butler's tone and smile... He felt as if he were about to be killed on the spot.

"Ron-" He barely managed to keep his voice from trembling.

"Were you planning on going out?"

Cale was sure Ron could hear his heart beating so loudly. He wanted to answer the butler, but his mouth had gone dry.

When he didn't respond, Ron looked him up and down. Cale did the same when he saw a frown appear on the butler's face. It was only now that he realized he was still in his nightclothes... It was true; he hadn't had time to pay attention to such details since he woke up.

"Do you need help getting changed?"

Cale couldn't answer him, so the butler gently pushed him back into the bedroom and followed him.

Basen tensed when he saw the old man, but Ron ignored him. He walked over to the closet to get some clothes.

Basen and Cale were both frozen now, the atmosphere in the room had become particularly cold since Ron had arrived. Anyone could sense his anger. Even the kittens had long since left their place on the bed to take refuge in a corner of the room, closer to the invisible dragon.

Once he had the clothes in his hands, he threw them on the bed. The two Henituses flinched at the gesture.

Ron motioned for Cale to come closer. Hesitantly, Cale obeyed, even though he was afraid of the assassin's hands so close to his body.

---

Now dressed appropriately, Ron took a few steps back to look him straight in the eye.

"I'm definitely going to step out of line with my next words, but I feel like we need to talk a bit." His voice seemed to soften slightly, but Cale could still see that his eyes were cold.

"I know you are hiding something from me, and I also know that Young Master Basen seems to be aware of it now. I can't say how or why, but you have changed in some way." Ron could see him flinch at the word "change," but he pretended not to notice. " Young Masters Eric and Gilbert, as well as Young Lady Amiru, have already tried to find out the truth, but to no avail." His words were meant more for Basen, but Ron knew that Cale would have done the same if he had been awake at that moment. "I'm not going to do the same, I don't have the right, but I won't stand by and wait for you to hurt yourself even more when you go out." He paused to let his words sink in. "As an assassin, I am very skilled at finding the people I need or following them."

Silence hung between them again until Ron spoke again. "I understand you are going out, young master. Where are you going?"

Cale gave him two questioning looks. Even he knew that Ron, given his previous words, was only asking out of pure courtesy. He sighed, not knowing what to do, but he now knew that he could no longer keep Ron away... Although he still didn't want to reveal anything to him at the moment...

"I have to go back to where I got the old power a few days ago." Cale looked at Basen as he said this, not wanting to face Ron's gaze anymore.

"Why?" Basen wasn't very enthusiastic after the incident on the beach.

Cale paused before answering, but not to Basen. "Ron, if you plan to follow us everywhere, I won't say anything, but on one condition: no matter what happens or what I do, you must not ask any questions."

"Of course, young master, I would not dare to overstep my role as a servant."

Cale almost laughed. As if he hadn't already. With a sigh, he finally answered Basen. "The God of Death."

It was a very vague answer in Basen's opinion, and he frowned.

"I kind of have an errand to run for him."

The frown on the young master's face still hadn't gone away. He knew that Cale wasn't telling him everything.

"And it's quite urgent." He glanced at his brother, asking him to understand, but Basen was having a little trouble after the incident.

Seeing that Basen wanted to open his mouth to speak, Cale continued. "Someone important is in mortal danger, and I can't ignore it."

With a sigh, Basen nodded, and Cale dared to glance at the silent butler. He seemed to want to ask many questions, but said nothing. Good, he was keeping his word.

"Maybe ask a doctor to accompany us or for some healing potions?" Basen suggested, but Cale shook his head.

The evil that was causing Paston's suffering had only one cure, and even that was unknown to everyone. Well, except for him, thanks to the book. Mermaid poison. How did he know? Thinking back on the words they had heard, he could see very clear images of where to find the young man, but also of his condition. Blood seemed to cover part of his body, but that wasn't all; a viscous, greenish substance was present in the wounds. Their appearance matched perfectly with another description in the book, the moment when Lock had been struck by the same poison. Fortunately, thanks to this passage, he knew exactly how to cure Paston.

When Basen seemed to understand that it was useless, Cale called the little dragon to teleport them.

---

Cale looked around and saw the place he was interested in. With a sigh, he asked the dragon to drop them off near the cave. They were currently flying above the beach where he had regained his former power.

---

Now that their feet touched the fine sand, Ron took the lead and they entered the cave.

---

They walked a little, and for the moment, nothing seemed strange. Only the sound of the waves could be heard in the distance. They just had to be careful not to trip over the rocks protruding from the sand.

As they approached the back of the cave, a sudden smell of blood filled the air. Cale saw Ron take out one of his hidden daggers, but they continued onward.

A few more steps, and the source of the smell became apparent. A young man was lying unconscious on the ground. If they hadn't seen his chest moving, they could easily have mistaken him for a corpse, so covered in blood was he.
