As soon as Cale had stood up, staggering, Deruth had joined him to prevent him from falling to the ground and getting more injuries.
"Where are you going?" His question went unanswered until he saw his son's body collapse. He then took him in his arms and carried him back to bed.
"Hans, call a doctor! Cale has fainted!" How many times had he said those words? Well, too many for his liking. The butler immediately reacted to his words and ran off.
"Wake up!" He shook him lightly by the shoulders, but Cale didn't react, simply remaining unconscious. He tried not to panic, but he was really struggling after everything that had happened in such a short time.
Fortunately, Hans, who had come with the Count to the capital, soon returns with a doctor and Basen, who seems to have heard the commotion.
The man immediately went to help the young master. Basen silently joined his father, both clearly worried. Although the young master seemed more confused, he had left less than an hour ago.
"He fell suddenly, I don't know what happened." Deruth could have easily collapsed now without his son's support. What if the doctor didn't answer him now and tell him that Cale was fine.
He quickly checked his body with his magic.
"So? Is this still his illness, or is there something else? Maybe after his fall?" The longer the doctor took to answer, the more he panicked, and the more his mind imagined horrible things.
The doctor was still facing Cale when he spoke. "Young Master Basen, perhaps you could have your father sit down. I think he needs to calm down a little." He absolutely didn't need anyone else fainting right now.
The young man obeyed, guiding the Count to the nearest chair before speaking. "Do you see anything?"
"No, his condition seems unchanged since this morning. I only see physical exhaustion. Perhaps a little worse than before, but nothing to worry about. The only thing I'm worried about is his low temperature."
The Count frowned in confusion. But it was Basen who went to place his hand on Cale's forehead. "He's really cold, do you have an explanation?"
"No, unfortunately, I can't tell you. I don't see anything else wrong with him." The doctor now looked equally confused.
"Is it dangerous for him?"
"I'm not sure." He continued quickly, seeing them worry again. "We could try raising his temperature. Do you have more blankets, perhaps?"
The young man left the room to ask for them. Luckily, a young woman was passing by in the hallway. "Excuse me, ccan you pick up more blankets? Thank you."
He returned to the room while the chambermaid fetched what had been requested.

The blankets arrived quickly, and with the maid's help, they placed them on the bed.
Basen waited a few more minutes before checking on his brother again. "I feel like his temperature has dropped again."
The man checked once more before using his mana on Cale again. They saw him frown.
"Is something wrong?" Deruth asked worriedly.
"It's strange, his body is hypothermic, but he doesn't show any symptoms of the cold. It's as if it doesn't bother him."
"That's a good thing, right?"
"Of course, but that's neither normal nor possible. I'm sorry, I don't understand what's going on."
Neither Deruth nor Basen said anything. In any case, there was nothing they could do but wait and worry.
---
Three days later, Cale's temperature returned to normal before. The doctor even said he was perfectly fine now and that there was nothing wrong with him. But he had no explanation for this strange phenomenon.
---
Cale woke up feeling rested, even though he thought he had a terrible headache after the death god's lecture on self-preservation. Seriously, how could anyone talk so much?
"Are you okay?" He opened his eyes and saw Deruth worried.
He was about to simply say yes before remembering what the god had told him.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." He apologized. It's true that the Count was doing his best. He certainly didn't deserve this, especially if he thought he was talking to his son... But this situation continues to bother him, he doesn't deserve this attention... He had spoken to the god of death about it, and strangely, the man had understood and allowed him to discuss certain things. He had also spoken to him about tact and taking the feelings of the person in front of him into account. Well, he was going to do things gently and talk to him.
"How long was I unconscious?"
He saw his father look at him in shock, before pulling himself together and replying, "Three days. We're still in the capital we were not sure that you could be moved. Basen has already left to join your friends in the square." He continued talking, completely unaware that Cale had already stopped listening long ago.
"What?!" He had to postpone this conversation, he had to leave now. "What time is it?" He jumped out of bed to grab some clothes and get dressed.
"Around 8:00 a.m., why? What are you doing?" He was baffled by Cale's urgency.
"It's... complicated, but I promise I'll tell you everything later. Let me go." The god had also spoken to him about honesty.
Deruth could only give in, but he asked him to be careful and if they could have a serious talk when he returned. He had a feeling Cale knew exactly what had happened during those three days.
—-
He ran down the corridor in search of a mage who could teleport him quickly to the square. He didn't forget to take a cape with him.
