The tour was in full swing again, and despite Niall's knee injury, nothing was going to stop One Direction from putting on a spectacular show. But for Y/N, it wasn't just about the performance—her mind was divided between keeping up with the high-energy show and making sure Niall didn't push himself too far.
The night of the show arrived, and Y/N was backstage with the boys, already dressed in her stage outfit, ready to give it her all, but her attention kept drifting toward Niall. He was sitting on a stool in the corner, his leg elevated, a cold compress resting on his injured knee. He looked fine, but Y/N could tell he wasn't feeling great. There was a strain in his eyes that betrayed his expression.
"Hey, how's the knee?" Y/N asked as she approached him, kneeling down in front of him. She placed a hand on his good knee gently, trying to offer comfort.
Niall smiled weakly but didn't meet her gaze. "It's sore, but it's nothing I can't handle," he muttered, clearly trying to downplay the injury.
Y/N raised an eyebrow, not buying it. "]You don't have to tough it out all the time, Nialler. We all know you hate sitting out, but this isn't just a sore muscle. You could make it worse if you keep pushing."
He sighed, leaning back and rubbing his face in frustration. "It's just hard, Y/N. I don't want to be the one holding everyone back, you know?"
Y/N's heart softened at his words. Niall was stubborn—more than any of them, really—but this was a different situation. She couldn't let him ruin his chances of healing by pushing himself too hard. "You're not holding anyone back," she assured him.
"If anything, you're being brave by even considering performing tonight. But I need you to promise me something: no running around, no unnecessary movement. Just take it easy." Niall gave her a mischievous look and shrugged. "Yes, Mum," he teased, clearly grateful for her concern but not wanting to admit how much pain he was actually in.
Y/N shot him a playful glare but couldn't help the smile tugging at her lips. "You better listen, Horan. No 'tough guy' act tonight, alright?"
He grinned back at her, more relaxed than before. "Alright, alright. I'll behave."
Before she could respond, Liam appeared from the shadows, already stretching out his muscles in preparation for the show. "Everything alright here?" he asked, noticing the conversation between Y/N and Niall.
"I'm good," Niall said, waving him off. "Just trying to survive tonight."
Liam shot Niall a knowing look and shook his head. "You're not getting away with this, mate. You'll have to sit it out if it gets worse."
Niall grumbled, but Y/N could see the relief on his face. Liam, always the "dad" of the group, wasn't about to let Niall push himself too hard.
"Let's get you back in the game," Y/N said, standing up and holding out her hand. "We'll make sure you're well taken care of. Just remember to rest when you can."
As they made their way to the stage entrance, the lights suddenly flickered, signaling the start of the show. Y/N's heart began to race, the excitement of being on stage mixing with her concern for Niall. But there was no time to waste. This was the time everyone had been anticipating.
The band quickly filed onto the stage, the roar of the crowd vibrating through the floor. Y/N took her place beside the boys, feeling the adrenaline rush through her veins. The first song started, and the lights blazed as the music filled the arena. Y/N let herself get lost in the rhythm, smiling as she belted out her lines alongside Harry and the others.
