Jungkook didn’t pay attention to Lisa's words and the plan to escape from this house. He couldn't bring himself to commit such an act of defiance. Just as he loved Taehyung with all his heart, his love for his father was equally profound. How could he destroy the mountain of respect and love he held for his father and cause him endless sorrow?
Was his father destined only to receive disrespect, pain, and humiliation from him? If he took this step, people would point fingers at his father, mocking him for failing to raise a proper child. Could Jungkook truly find happiness with Taehyung while carrying the weight of his father's dishonor? Nature may forgive, but society would not.
People in this society excel at criticism, skillfully piercing others’ hearts with subtle yet painful jabs. For the first time, 17-year-old Jungkook found himself overwhelmed by a profound maturity far beyond his age. The agony of his current predicament, the complexity of the situation, and the looming pain of being separated from his beloved all came together to teach him one thing—running away was not a solution, but an act of disgrace. Ignoring his mother, Jungkook rushed into the living room.
Jungkook Hoseok sat there on a rattan chair, his face stern, discussing the arrival of the guests with his younger brother. Meanwhile, Jungkook's youngest aunty, was somberly tidying up the livingroom, and Hyun sat nearby, skipping school as instructed. He had his phone in hand but remained silent under his elder brother's watchful eye.
Startling everyone, Jungkook suddenly collapsed at his father’s feet, breaking down into uncontrollable sobs. His soft voice carried desperate pleas,
"Please don’t marry me off, Appa. I’ll die. I can’t live without Taehyungie hyung. Please, I beg you, don’t do this to me."
Lisa rushed after her son, panic evident in her every step. As she reached out to hold him, Hoseok raised his hand, signaling her to stop. His stern face remained unchanged, though a flicker of pity crossed his eyes as he glanced at his beloved son, the son he raised like the most treasured gem. Lisa looked at her husband with tearful desperation, silently pleading for him to reconsider.
She knew better than anyone that this separation would shatter not only her naive-hearted innocent son but also the steadfast, determined Taehyung. Their love had grown so intense that parting ways would ruin both of their lives. How could her husband, a man of such resolve, fail to see this? Why was he so merciless when it comes to love?
"You dare to throw yourself at my feet for that useless alpha of kim's?" Hoseok growled, his voice like thunder. "Let go of my feet, Jungkook. You've disgraced my honour enough by sneaking around with him. Now it’s time for you to redeem yourself."
Hyun’s face twisted into a mocking smile as he stared intently at his brother’s steely expression. Deep within his heart, resentment had been building against his once-revered elder brother. He had heard stories of history repeating itself, and now he was witnessing it in his own family. From Jin hyung’s ironic story to his own, and now to his naive nephew’s tragic predicament—every injustice fueled his desire to rebel.
Though he shared the same house made of brick and stone as everyone else, his heart had long been weighed down by sorrow. Losing his beloved Aera had left him scarred, the waves of that grief constantly crashing against his soul. He knew what it meant to live with the pain of losing someone dear—to exist as a living corpse. Finally, he mustered the courage to speak against the brother he once respected.
"Jungkook seems truly loves Taehyung, hyung. This doesn’t seem like mere emotion. I think you should inform Jin hyung and arrange their marriage."
Jung Hoseok’s eyes burned crimson with anger. His piercing gaze seemed ready to scorch his younger brother. His roar reverberated through the walls of the Jung household, shaking the bricks, stones, and the very hearts of its residents.
