Mark couldn't bring himself to call or text Donghyuck.
He had no idea what to say anyway. Of course, the human was cute and all but the only attraction Mark felt to Donghyuck was his tasty blood. He felt like going on a date just to get blood in the future was manipulative and bad. Humans deserved better.
But then he knew that pushing him away wouldn't be good either. There was another vampire after Donghyuck and Mark despised it! He was sure that if they tasted the boy once, they'd do that again. So, dating Donghyuck or just being friends with him, would be practical if Mark wanted to save the human from others.
BUT... Getting closer to Donghyuck was like playing with fire. The reason Mark was living alone, in a house, not an apartment complex, was to protect himself from humans. Having one close would mean that the latter might find something weird about him. And, badly, Mark had a lot of weird things just like any other vampire. Some things that he wouldn't even consider weird but they were odd to humans.
Mark found it irritating and tiresome. Why was he even bothered about a relationship that couldn't even happen? Because of that, he decided to let it go and ignore it for some time. The vampire went to his office room and wrote an article about random incidents around the city. Writing helped him to shift his mind elsewhere.
Later that night Mark got back to the beginning. All those thoughts started torturing him again and he gave up. The vampire found Donghyuck's picture on the pizza place's social media accounts, uploaded it in the vamp group chat, and asked who had bitten this boy. He got one answer from a female vampire, who said she'd rate the experience five stars and would repeat it, and they started bickering in private messages. Mark must've shown a lot of possession through his texts as her last response was "marry him then tf u mad" which made Mark embarrassed that dropped his phone and went upstairs.

Mark hadn't come out of his "cave" for a while. There was no reason to. Lately, it had been raining and Mark hated rain in his usual form but didn't develop any liking even when he was a bat. And he had a lot of work to do anyway. He was calmly working on the articles until he felt an aching in his head. He drew back from the monitor and sighed.
It looked like the first stage of starvation just started.
He got down to check his fridge only to find the last bag of blood mixed with water. Still, better than nothing, Mark thought.
He drank it and returned to work a little bit more but then his muscles started aching.
"No," Mark grunted.
He had to leave his house and hunt his first human after a while. The problem was that it was still daytime. Mark had to wait for the evening to start the hunt because at this time, humans' vision gets worse and they don't see certain things. The problem was that he didn't know if he'd be able to endure the pain.
A sudden flash of Donghyuck's face just ran across his eyes. The vampire had a terrible idea of calling Donghyuck to his house and feeding on him. You know, humans these days come to the houses of literal strangers, so why not? But it was stupid. He had to brush it all off. It's been two days since he saw Donghyuck and he never called or texted him. So why now?
Mark waited as much as he could and then went outside when it was still bright. Since he was starving, the sun's last beams were hurting his skin. He also felt very vulnerable and dizzy but reached the place perfect for a hunt.
It was a narrow alley surrounded by seven-foot-high fence panels, so no one would see what happened next if Mark caught a human. Perfect.
The only bad thing was to wait until it got really dark. And when it did, the number of people grew rare. No one walked into that street for whole thirteen minutes! Mark felt like dying there. Thanks to one young woman who appeared at the end of the street, he knew this day wasn't his last.
