"Boss, I'm sorry, but the interview with Lee Donghyuck failed. He changed his mind in the mid-interview and no longer wanted to talk about it."

Lying wasn't hard as long as Mark protected himself and all of his kind and also Donghyuck. Interviewing him was dangerous since the human knew something that he shouldn't. One wrong word and it could be the end for him and every vampire on this planet.

"That's a pity," the boss sighed and sat down in his chair. "Your last interview was not as popular as it was with Lee Donghyuck."

"Yeah, I've noticed that."

"I knew that you shouldn't interview that old man. He's not appealing to an eye like the Donghyuck guy. His picture itself was worth it."

"It's not about looks. The article about Donghyuck was the first one in an interview form. Everyone liked the new format."

"And he's attractive."

Mark didn't know about the attractive part. He just thought Donghyuck was cute.

"I swear to God if he gives an interview to anyone else..."

"Don't worry. He won't. He wants a peaceful life now."

Mark left his boss's office, which he rarely visited, and went home. He worked for quite a while, and hadn't noticed when the next day came. He had his blinds closed and only the voices of kids outside his house reminded him of the time. They were coming home from school which meant that it had to be near afternoon.

The vampire checked his phone and wanted to facepalm as he saw Donghyuck's text he received twelve hours ago. He read the address and then went to take a quick shower. As he did so, Mark thought about places to take the human. He needed him to eat well, so it had to be a place that had much to offer.

He remembered having a company dinner at one restaurant and chose it as the one to bring Donghyuck. It was a little fancy one, but it was worth it since there were lots of side dishes. It was the perfect place for someone in a condition like the human who was unwell for the past few weeks.

Stepping out of the shower, Mark dried his hair and then instinctively touched his chin. Feeling a little stubble, he thought about ignoring it but then remembered what Donghyuck told him. He felt embarrassed, recalling the experience as it was the first time someone had told him this. Well, maybe because Donghyuck was the first human ever to know about Mark's supernatural being.

All this time Mark believed that everything he learned from Taeyong he did well. But it turned out that he still had to learn stuff which was weird for a vampire who always aced everything. Who could've thought that the only thing he failed was shaving his facial hair?

Mark shaved with extra care then. He kept touching the place under his nose to check if he had left something. But how could he know? He never saw his reflection. He did all that by staring at a wall.

Seeing students leaving the building reminded Mark of his student life too. The first year was exciting yet tiresome as it was Mark's first time alone around humans, without Taeyong's protective eye—a vampire teacher had homeschooled him.

Being surrounded by humans for all four years taught Mark some new stuff. He liked their company and deep conversations but hated dating stuff and constant questions about having a crush. He didn't appreciate parties either. He didn't like drinking around humans as he feared slipping and blabbering something about his race. The only reason Mark went to them was to look for someone wasted, take them somewhere private, and drink their blood. It wasn't that appropriate, but, hey, at least he made them sober up which led to them safely reaching their homes.
