Mark and Donghyuck continued with their deal.
The vampire came to the human at the same time, just as they agreed. He would fly inside in the bat form and land on the floor before Donghyuck. The human looked surprised each time, even though it had to be already the fifth time he saw Mark looking like that. Although he never said anything, Mark could tell that Donghyuck had a few questions about transformation.
As soon as they welcomed each other, the human went to his bed where he offered his arm for the vampire to feed on. Mark had to bite somewhere higher since his wrists were already bitten a couple of times. That wasn't a problem as Donghyuck let him do what he wanted as he was already used to getting paid.
And yes, right after the blood donation, Mark paid and left without any further words. That's how their little procedure ended.
It was very simple those five times. There were no questions or unnecessary conversations—they just did what they had to do. Maybe that's why Mark couldn't help but notice that something was off on the sixth, seventh, and eighth time he came to Donghyuck. You see, Mark could feel the sweet smell on Donghyuck's skin during those times. Shower gel. It was obvious that the human showered beforehand which wasn't bad—everyone showered.
But why was it that he showered every time Mark came to see him? That's what the vampire found odd. Along with this, Donghyuck stopped wearing the clothes he returned from work with. Instead, he changed into casual clothing like oversized T-shirts with shorts that rode up whenever he sat on his bed.
And there was even more. The taste of Donghyuck's blood changed. It had an even better taste than before—it was sweet but not too sweet. Something balanced the flavor to make it somewhat perfect. As Mark sucked the blood, his taste buds caught on to even more untried. Just by tasting it, he felt an emotion... Excitement? Mark frowned. It wasn't him who felt it...
The next day, the vampire texted Donghyuck about his eating schedule and nutrition. 'Have you eaten something different lately?' he asked. To his surprise, Donghyuck replied just in a few minutes, claiming that there was nothing new drawn into his usual eating routine.
What about the change in taste? Mark didn't want to think this way but maybe the human he chose was doing drugs. That would explain why he showered—to wake up from the intoxication and wore something cozy—not jeans or something.
On the ninth time, Mark came a little worried. Just as he landed on the floor, still in the bat form, he looked for something suspicious under the human's bed. Please don't blame him, he thought humans kept that stuff under their beds... However, he couldn't do that for long, as Donghyuck noticed and crouched, blocking Mark's view.
"Why are you hiding? Oh, you look kinda cute like this. Ah, the ears! I always thought that bats were ugly. But that's so cool that you can change into this."
Donghyuck extended his arm and patted Mark's head a few times.
"So soft," he exclaimed, then frowned.
Mark guessed he recalled a similar experience since he touched something like that in his pizza car. Of course, he had no idea it was Mark and didn't say it out loud.
The vampire escaped from under the bed and turned into his usual form. Turning his back at Donghyuck for a brief second, he glanced at the human's desk. Expecting to see something weird, like a bag of white powder, Mark only saw notebooks.
"Uh, since it's getting warmer these days, I want to wear short-sleeved shirts, so... Could you stop biting my arms, hyung?"
"Hyung?" Mark looked over his shoulder.
