TIME: August 7, 2016

PLACE: "Enzi's" Laboratory.

~8 years before Alli's arrival.

There she was, the unsuspecting scientist experimenting with the new specimen she created. According to her, its name should be "Paraformitzci Zed," which is just fancy for "Parasite Z", or PZ for short. This new organism was a bit complicated, at least to her. It didn't do anything by itself, it isn't contagious, and it gives its host special abilities. The abilities are vastly different, in both colors & unique battle styles. She would know, as she has gotten volunteers to take the bacteria. But there was a... peculiar side effect.

The word "Parasite" isn't in its name for the cool effect. PZ relies on its host to live on. It'll help its owner to survive, protecting them with its powers. But.. good things never last. It'll corrupt the host's mind, slowly morphing their thoughts from kind-hearted to pure bloodshed & violence. Even worse, their abilities turn on them, controlling the host's every movement, seeking nothing but violence and torture to anyone it sees.

And the host could barely do anything. At most, their willpower could soothe the urges for a while, but it wasn't a permanent fix. More urges would break out, more of their mind would corrupt, until only smudges of their own self could be seen through the gore on their hands. Thankfully, Miss. Scientist over here knew this. She never attempted testing on herself. She stayed decent distance on all volunteers incase violent urges enclosed in their thoughts.

All that was left was the same symbol on every deceased subject.

Rachel did nothing but stare as more and more of yet another test volunteer was consumed by the parasitic stimuli. This variant resembled a shade of green. His eyes turned into the gunshot symbol above, the PZ symbol mixing in with his green eye color. But he was still holding on. It was like a test, to see who was worthy of holding such abilities. He held onto his sanity, despite the feeling being like a tsunami to a bucket.

Eventually, the test calmed. He stopped leaning onto the wall. His grip on his head loosened until it rested on the side of his body. He survived a PZ overturn. And wouldn't you know, he kept the good part.

He was a great swordsman before this event, but now? He was unstoppable. He could swing his dual swords around like pebbles, and they would each make razor-thin cuts through wood & bamboo. Furthermore, all his cuts radiated a green glow to them before they were replaced by lighting. Hell, he could even sense incoming danger. His reflexes allowed the test to do sharp dodges, deflect literal maces, and even hit bullet-sized moving targets.

He seemed weirdly energetic.

Rachel walked up to the control panel which could activate or deactivate functions of the room forward. She pressed a button, and output a message through speakers.

Rachel: PZ-RZ, status report.

The test looked up and took in the message mentally. In an instant, he responded.

Test: ...Okay..?

Rachel: Confident answer, please.

Test: Ugh. Yeah, i'm alright.

Rachel whipped out a board with paper on it, documenting the results of the test. She found one who could resist the PZ urge. Or was it that the variant was too weak to do much?

She brushed off these thoughts and documented the observations of his test runs. It was weirdly fascinating how he could negate PZ's violence. Maybe it was the virus weakening. Maybe it was his willpower.

"These would make some great evidence for another" she thought.

Rachel: PZ-RZ, remind me, what's your name?

...

"Ixol."
