"Run, Brooks!" Echoed.
"As fast as you can!" He laughed.
I'm going to fucking die.
"ENZO! ENOUGH!"
Who said that...
"LEAVE HER! HE'LL KILL YOU!"
Who is that?
"I'm just trying to see how fast she can run, nott!"
No...
Fuck.
Run faster.
Faster.
Faster.
"ENZO! STOP!"
I can't do this anymore...
Cold.
Snow.
Darkness.
Pain.

I didn't have the dicier to open my eyes.
Not when my bed was this soft, when the blankets finally gave me the warmth I've been craving for days. When I finally had a pillow to rest on, instead of stone.
This was heaven.
Pure bliss.
But then, a flicker of memory gnawed at the edges of my tranquility.
"Good night, Brookie"
Mattheo.
The look in his eyes when he offered me that potion.
The way he held me...
Oh, fuck.
With an awakening breath, I jerked my eyes open, blinking against the soft glow of candlelight until shapes took form.
And then I saw him: Mattheo, lounging in an armchair, his posture loose, legs sprawled, relaxed, but attention unwavering as he regarded me with an expression that danced somewhere between concern and mischief.
"Good morning, Brookie," he drawled, a teasing smirk settling on his lips, though I noticed the darkness lurking in his eyes—those depths I had learned to navigate carefully.
" What did you do?" My voice croaked out, the remnants of sleep still heavy in my throat. "Did you ... I asked to go home."
He shifted slightly, resting his chin on his intertwined fingers. "You needed rest. You were in no state to receive any form of healing, remember? You nearly fainted from exhaustion. Twice."
"And what qualifies you to decide what I need?" I shot back, my heart pounding with the adrenaline of awakening. My mind raced through the implications. Drugged into slumber—was this care or manipulation?
"I didn't mean to take away your choice... really I'm not the type. But honestly, you weren't giving me much of one," he replied, a flicker of guilt brushing against his facade. "You were barely breathing when I found you."
