"I'm convinced you're dead.
I can almost feel it in my bones, when I think about it too long.
I think even if you are still on earth, you're only physically here.
Its okay, I'm gone too, Brookie."
Recovered undelivered correspondents between Death Eater Mattheo Riddle, to Order Memeber Alexandra Brooks, Dated somewhere between 2000-2001.
Riddle Manor, 2003.
Mattheo.
"You know they're going to attempt a stunt." Enzo huffed from across the couch of the large sitting room, where we now spent most of our night.
"Let them," Theo laughed, as he lit his cigarette, "I'd love a good fight."
Nothing has changed, yet, everything has.
"As Theo said," I finally interjected, "Let them. I've been bored anyway. Could use some excitement."
Blaise rolled his eyes dramatically and settled back into the couch, crossing his arms. "Excitement is one thing, but a stunt like this could draw unwanted attention. We've managed to get a lot of shit done, and I'd like to keep it that way for a while longer. If they come as see us in our mask's, its over. We spent ages planning this."
"That ship sailed ages ago, everyone knows it us." Theo exhaled a cloud of smoke, watching it drift towards the elegantly draped ceiling. "Besides, it's not like we're in hiding anymore. Its not Hogwarts anymore. We're the ones controlling everything now. Might as well enjoy it."
I leaned back in my seat, letting their banter wash over me.
The past five years had been a whirlwind of shadows and blood.
The Death Eaters had risen through the ranks, gaining control of swathes of the continent.
Under my leadership, of course. We had earned both fear and respect, a double-edged sword that we wielded with honor.
I wielded with honor.
A lot has changed in five years.
Too much, even.
My father, had elevated me in ways I had once never imagined.
I don't know why I ever doubted him.
Head man of the Death Eaters, they called me, and with that title came an authority that sent shivers down my spine.
I had inherited not only his monstrous ambition but also a ruthless desire to see our enemies crushed beneath the heel of our collective boot.
Of my boot.
Blaise and Theo filled the space with their blusterous chatter about the stunts that would, no doubt, take place later.
It had become a ritual for us, a distraction from the brutal reality of our lives.
Beneath the excitement was the grim understanding of what we were truly involved in.
We were not merely executing ambitious plans; we were orchestrating a bloodbath.
The Death Eaters thrived under my command.
