I lay awake on my bed, my eyes wide open. I check the time for the 100th time and it's finally 6:30 am. College doesn't start until 11:30 am . But I couldn't sleep the whole night, as usual.
My dad was still sleeping in so I decided to study for a while. At exactly 8:30 am, my dad woke up and made me breakfast. We talked while eating dosa. I told him about the girl who bumped into me and then proceeded to embarrass me in front of the whole class. But I still had the upper hand. Its been a week since that. I have not talked to her ever since and I don't intend to. Nothing else has happened.
To my suprise, he asks "she seems nice. Is she your friend?"
Nice?? Friend??
"Dad.. I hate her." I reply like it's so obvious.
"Why would you hate her? She didn't embarass you, it was just a debate."
He might be right. I knew that. But I still hate her.
Dad goes on to talk about the new stuff in his corporate job. I could never work on a desk. Too boring. We talk for a while. And I leave for college earlier than usual. An hour, to be precise.
I decide to walk to my favourite spot in the whole campus of my college: the secret spot. It wasn't very mysterious actually, it was just an abandoned backyard behind the buliding. I found it on the day I got admitted here. A senior told me about it. I sit down on the creaky wooden bench.
Suddenly, I hear faint hisses. It was an open sewage gap and a cat was hissing and growling for help. I quickly sit on my knees and extend my hand towards the drowning cat.
He mercilessly scratches my skin "hey, I am trying to help you! Don't scratch me" I say to the cat.
After struggling to get the cat, i carry it to the safer side. It meows and runs out of the backyard.
My hands were stinky and dirty, full of scratches.
Geez, this is embarassing
