Yesterday, when the English professor didn't agree to change the partners, I stormed off like a 5 year old kid throwing tantrums. I was being such a dick. Just because I don't like her, doesn't mean I get to be an ass. I should have accepted it and we could just work it out together. I think she was crying because of me but she looked scared. Why would she be scared?
"Aarav!" Tanmay, my bench mate pulls me out of my thoughts. The English professor had entered the class and everyone was standing to wish him.
I swear, college is just school with no uniform.
I stood up before anyone noticed and the professor starts speaking "Good morning students! Sit down..today we will be discussing about the project. This specific project holds extreme importance in your final year result. Its compulsory from the government's side. You need to submit this 3 months later. But don't get too excited. This assignment project isn't one you can do one night before the due date. It's on research and practical knowledge. There will be field trips and visits. So I urge you to take it seriously".
The class erupts into chaos as everyone starts whispering to their friends
"Also please sit with your respective project partners during my lecture" the professor adds on.
I look at Aastha and shes waiting for me to sit next to her while I am doing the same.
"No. You come here" She whisper screams.
I roll my eyes at her.
Its fine. We can work together. How hard can it be?
I grab my bag and move to the first row.
I try to sit on the left but she doesn't let me.
"I want the left side" she says.
Turns out, it's very hard to work with this girl.
"Fine". I sit on the right side and wait for the professor to continue.
He tells us how we will need to present our work in front of the entire class and higher level teachers by the end of the three months.
"Let's meet in the library after college...to discuss about the project" Aastha tells me.
"Oh-okay" I reply.
We talk more about how we are gonna start. She look blabbers non stop about what she's thinking for the project.
The bell rings and we go to the cafeteria together. We are still talking about how important this project is and how we need to take it seriously.
Aastha's eyes wander behind me while I was talking. She has that same expression on her face- like she was scared. I look behind and I see a guy shamelessly staring at her body.
"Who is he? Why is he being such a pervert?" I ask her
She finally looks at me and replies "Just an old... Friend" the last word leaving bitterly.
I nod and take her hand in mine "c'mon, let's eat in the classroom." I walk behind her, still holding hands. I look behind my back and give him a death glare before walking away.

It's 4 pm and I walking to the college library. Aarav must be waiting already. I open the library door and all the chaos fades away as soon as I shut the door behind me.
I find him sleeping with his head down. "Aarav?" I call out softly and he immediately looks up started.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" I apologise.
"It's alright. Did you come up with ideas for the introduction?" He asks
"Yeah, I did. I wrote it down.. here" I hand him the file.
A few moments later, he gives it back to me
"Sorry but this won't work" he says
"Excuse me? What do you mean it won't work" I reply instantly.
"It's good but there's too much content. Look at mine.. it has enough content and it's catchy". He says
"But its a project. The more content the better!" I say defensively
"Will the content matter if the reader just doesn't feel like reading?" He replies.
"How about I handle the introduction and you can watch and learn?" He adds on.
"Watch and learn?! Who do you think you are?! This is supposed to be a project involving team work. I don't think you get what team work is!" I say
"Well, maybe if you were a little less stubborn, it would be easier to work as a team!" He exclaims
"How about you stop being such a pain in the ass and actually focus on the project?!" I say.
"You know what, I can't do this today! You want to use your idea? Do it. But I won't help you" he says finally
"Wait, so you're telling me that I can go ahead with my idea and I can do it alone peacefully? Oh that's such a bummer" I reply sarcastically
He rolls his eyes and grabs his bag. "Enjoy" he says and leaves.
He still hates me. Great.
I work on the introductory part until the library hours were over.
I catch the bus dreaming about throwing myself on the bed and falling asleep.
