Aastha and I walk out together after the result discussion ends

Aastha and I walk out together after the result discussion ends. Tanmay had told us we'll celebrate after lectures but he and Khushi were nowhere to be found since I saw Khushi crying.

"They probably had a little fight" Aastha says without looking at me.

My eyes wander to our usual spot, and I finally spot both of them—still arguing

We shouldn't eavesdrop but curiosity gets the better of us.

"Everyone can see it! Everyone can see that you're ignoring my entire existence!" Tanmay whisper shouts, more hurt than angry.

"Maybe you're just too damn insecure! Your ego shatters everytime I even talk to another guy, that's not my fucking fault!" She retorts but her words lack conviction

He's right. She has been neglecting him and even Aastha should agree despite being Khushi's bestfriend.

"That's not true and you know it damn well." His voice cracks with emotion before he walks away.

Aastha walks over to Khushi and I turn away giving them much needed space.

I text Tanmay but I know he wouldn't respond.  I've never seen him so utterly devastated. I saw it coming, though.

He always pretends to be this happy, funny guy who's never hurt or angry. He thinks he has to be happy all the time.

I just realised that I know nothing about him and yet, he knows almost everything about me.

...

"I'll try my best, but this is very inconvenient. Members from all over the world had come to invigilate the orientation. Doing that again is nearly impossible." Rina Ma'am says with an exaggerated sigh.

"I'm aware, ma'am. But my partner was literally in an accident. What do you expect us to do?"

This lady is seriously testing every last ounce of my patience.

"I'll talk to the principal but even if you're allowed to present again, at least 10 marks will be deducted for this irresponsibility".

I try to give her a grateful smile but I'm pretty sure it comes out as a grimace.
