135 - Both Sides of the Chessboard

Miguel is currently in Sam and I's room because he said he needed a break from the rest of the boys. I know that by that, he means he needs a break from Robby. It's valid. I'd probably be pissed too. I sit on the bed, trying to distract myself with various things on my computer. I need to call home at some point for a few reasons. I'm sure I'd benefit from talking to Mrs LaRusso or Ms Diaz. The people I really need to call are Cameron and Mr Abelardo. I think if I don't call Cameron soon, he'll get on a plane and fly here just to tell me off. We've barely even been gone and I miss them already.

"I'll be right back," I say, "I'm gonna go check on Robby and the others."

"Actually, can we all go? I think we need a team meeting," Sam asks. I don't think that's such a bad idea. We have a lot to discuss.

"Good idea," I say, "let me use the bathroom then we can head over."

They both nod, and I go to do my business so we can leave to talk business.

I sit atop the table in the boys' room as Robby and Demetri walk in sheepishly with their bags. Miguel has been... kind of strange in the few minutes between me going to the bathroom and now. He keeps looking over at me with this kind of hurt expression. I don't know what it's about. Did I do something to him in the past five minutes that I'm unaware of?

"Well this sucks," Miguel says as soon as Robby and Demetri are actually inside the room and the door is closed.

"Not a very smart gamble, boys," Sam says. I wholeheartedly agree.

"Yeah, somebody said it wasn't gonna be a gamble," Demetri says, tone pointed as he looks back at Robby.

"I didn't wanna get involved, remember? I told you to stay away from Cobra Kai," he says, "it's so simple."

Alright, I love him, but let's not act all high and mighty here.

"If it's so simple, why didn't you follow your own advice? Or get your girlfriend to do the same?" Eli pipes up. I have a name, actually. Parker Reyes-LaRusso, does it ring a bell? I'm starting to get a little annoyed of just being referred to as 'girlfriend'.

"What are you talking about?" Robby asks.

"We all saw her talking to Tory. And you just couldn't stay away when that Kwon kid challenged you," Eli elaborates.

"She's always had a soft spot for Cobras," Demetri says. I look up at him sharply. What the hell?

"If she didn't have a soft spot for Cobras, she wouldn't be friends with half of us in this room," Robby defends. A least he's defending me here.

"Yeah, she's just dealing with Tory's decision, same as the rest of us," Miguel says. I appreciate his words as well.

"I wouldn't say that exactly," Sam says, and I look over at her, "you knew Kreese came to Tory."
