'Huh? What now?' setting the crochet aside to pick up her phone, she tapped the screen to display the notification. Someone had tagged her in a post. A rush of sensation swelled inside, both rising up her throat and down in her gut.

The photo collage displayed had photos primarily not of her, but of a shared experience. A swipe shows a video. Memory of that night both strong and weak but this moment was a core event. The sensation inside now shifted to a warming that spread throughout, bringing with it a smile. In that moment she was again struck that people enjoyed her company.

It was unfortunate that at 30 she still felt worried that she was an undesirable person to be around. Core wounds from that same woman 17 years ago prior continue to pad the expectations of life. Yet for some time now everyday experiences prove otherwise.
