Autumn moved out pretty much instantly once she was eighteen with Reece following soon after. The house felt no different to Roger though, if he hadn't have been told they were leaving he truthfully doubted he would've noticed. The monster had never cared for his children so their whereabouts honestly meant nothing to him. It wasn't until Autumn was in need of a job that he suddenly realised she may be useful to him, he owned nurseries not because he cared for children but because they were an easy money maker for him. His main nursery had recently lost their deputy manager which to him seemed like the perfect opportunity to learn more about what went on behind the scenes at the setting.
Roger made a call to the manager letting her know he had found someone on the job and that she would be on her way over shortly. Marjorie had managed the nursery for him for what was soon to be ten years having worked in the rooms for around five years prior, she was good at her job but truthfully he didn't care for her. There wasn't anything wrong with her per se just the fact that the woman had no money so to Roger her worth was unimportant, she kept him rich though so he kept her around. Marjorie sounded disheartened upon hearing about the new staff member, she had someone in mind for the role yet whatever the monster said went so she thanked him through gritted teeth.
He knew his daughter would cause a lot of problems at the nursery due to her antisocial tendencies and her lack of care when it came to dealing with people, he sometimes wondered if these traits of hers were due to prom night, he couldn't care less though.
It wasn't long before Marjorie called him to express some of her concerns regarding Autumn, Roger just coldly told the woman to give her time and she'd eventually get used to everything "she's just shy and not used to this kind of work environment" to quote the monster. Marjorie reluctantly accepted his words and told him that she would keep him updated on his daughter's work life, Roger thanked her and hung up without uttering another word.
A few months had passed and Marjorie's concerns about Autumn had come to a complete stop, it would seem that they had formed a sort of friendship. His inside source of information had slowly stopped telling him the details of daily life at the nursery. The stories he would now hear were related to how Marjorie had done this or that and how she could sort out the parents that were causing constant havoc around the place. Roger couldn't show his feelings of defeat so forcefully pretended as though he was amazed by the managers actions. His daughter seemed happy, the happiest she had done in a long time. He hated it.
Reece would often comment on how great Marjorie sounded which seemed to annoy Mia in a way, he would say she was jealous had she been anyone else yet knew the red haired woman would rather be alone than be with his son. It was more panic about the thought that Reece would leave for a new woman leaving her with nothing to give Roger in return for the status of her father's whereabouts and also worry for what he would do to her if she didn't keep the blonde man on a short leash. The abuse that Roger had imposed on her caused her to care about her relationship more and more by the day, she was in too deep now, her chances of escaping had diminished entirely.
