"She has no choice, she has to marry me"
Roger's thoughts were focused on the idea of finally keeping Siobhan just like a trophy, he didn't love her he only loved the idea of having someone to control, someone to own. The monster was unaware to the fact that Siobhan had finally made a connection with someone, a friendship with someone who cared.
Vivian was a single mother to a little boy called Jamie who attended Marjorie's nursery, she worked as a nurse at the local hospital having moved to the area upon leaving her toxic, abusive relationship. Vivian's situation was similar to the one Siobhan was in currently and although the blonde had never disclosed any information to her new companion Viv was well aware that the woman needed help as soon as possible, she could see the signs clearly.
The two had met one morning when Siobhan had to cover for Marjorie and Autumn after one of the staff had recently become a mother, they bumped into one another once again after that when Vivian had handed the blonde her number, the blonde never called though, she wouldn't dare, Roger would make her pay for seeking out company away from him. Viv proposed that the two of them have a meeting so that the monster would be unaware, Siobhan hesitantly agreed.
The meetings became weekly and Siobhan found herself looking forward to them every time. The woman had never felt this way towards anyone before, she loved the way Vivian would talk with her hands, she loved her laugh, she loved the way her sweet demeanour would change when anyone would cause any upset to her son, she loved how she took time out of her day to have these meetings, she loved her. Platonically of course, this is how everyone must feel around their friends.
Siobhan's feelings became harder to ignore, she often found herself questioning as to if these feelings were just friendly. The blonde had never felt this way towards Roger or any man for that matter, Vivian was different. The way her presence lit up Siobhan's life made her rethink everything. She loved Vivian, no she was in love with Vivian.
During their next meeting Siobhan couldn't help but stare at the beautiful woman's lips as she spoke, unknowingly moving closer towards her placing her hand on the brunettes cheek before kissing her gently. The blonde pulled away in a panic, how could she be so stupid. Vivian pulled her in, their eyes meeting gently kissing her again, it felt right.
Siobhan felt everything so deeply, the hatred she had pushed onto other people in same sex relationships began to haunt her. Her own self loathing had caused pain to others, how could she have been so unaware. The blonde went home that morning to Roger waiting for her by the door, he began to shout asking where she had been. "I had a meeting, I'm sorry" was all the blonde could say, surprisingly Roger accepted it and told her to get ready as he wanted to go for lunch.
The two of them sat across from one another eating in silence, Siobhan couldn't help but think that Vivian would've spoken to her, she would've had conversation, she would've made her laugh. Her thoughts were shut down when Roger told her they were going shopping, as much as Siobhan loved going out she always hated it with him he would spend the entire time ogling over other woman and flirting with the cashiers yet she agreed without a second thought knowing that as long as he got his way she wouldn't have to suffer as much at his hands.
The pair walked into a jewellery shop when a ring caught Siobhan's eye, it was beautiful with a simple yet intricate design but the main appeal was the giant green emerald. Roger saw her looking and bought it ordering her to put it on her ring finger. The two were engaged. Siobhan had always hoped her engagement would be a happy occasion, one filled with love and excitement. This wasn't it all it held was sadness and dread.
Siobhan decided to keep the engagement to herself to the best of her ability. Roger would inform his children which she knew wouldn't go down well considering they couldn't stand their father's new relationship. Siobhan couldn't blame them truthfully, it must have been uncomfortable for them to see their father with someone a similar age to them. The blondes efforts failed when Vivian noticed the ring commenting on it before walking away without uttering another word, Siobhan's heart shattered into a million pieces in that moment, she wanted to run after the woman yet she was paralysed by guilt and shame stood staring blankly in the middle of the nursery's corridor.
Marjorie appeared behind her, her jaw dropped. Asking Siobhan if it was true, was she really engaged? Siobhan snapped out of her trance almost instantly before rolling her eyes and questioning Marjorie on her lack of intelligence before walking off trying to stop the tears from falling.
