Knight Terrors

chapter 16. (flowers)

Mia and Autumn had certainly gotten closer since everything was finally aired out, they were beginning to have a sister bond once again. Neither one would admit it but things were truly better when they had each other, they needed the other.
When Mia found out Aut was pregnant she was over the moon for the younger woman, she was getting her rainbow baby after having suffered such a loss this year.

Flowers had never been something Mia saw as loving due to her past relationship with them, always dead and always used as blackmail. It was about time she took some power back, yes Roger was no longer her puppeteer but he still had control over her even though he wasn't present. The red haired woman took a walk to the local market, this would be the first real flower bouquet she had bought in a long time, whenever she would give Charlotte flowers they were artificial or handmade because the thought of them dying before he beautiful girlfriends eyes saddened her deeply.

Autumn had a unique taste. She wouldn't want anything bright or colourful, she would want something dark and more gothic. Red for certain, Mia knew that red was what she wanted. Flower after flower, too bright, too happy looking until she saw them. Dark, blood red with big dramatic petals, they were perfect.

During her time stood at the flower stall a woman came over, a parent from the nursery. The annoying kind that Mia would always do her best to stay clear of, she didn't have the patience her angel of a girlfriend had. The woman made small talk and the topic of why she was buying flowers came up, so of course Mia told her. Autumn wasn't hiding this pregnancy, she wanted to talk to people about it so that if the worst was to happen again she had a community behind her.
Aut would never admit it but she was scared, so truly scared. Losing her baby had broken her in a way she never thought possible, you never bounce back from that.

The parent seemed to take offence that Aut had announced her pregnancy, Mia was shocked. The woman kept talking while the red haired woman just stood there in awe at the nerve of her, when she was done Mia told her what she thought and walked off not before saying "so maybe let them speak for themselves, Diane" She walked off feeling mildly triumphant, she wouldn't let anyone say a word against Aut especially where the pregnancy was concerned.

She got in her mustang and drove straight to the Fortune-Knight family home, she knew Winter would be at work and Aut was off so she decided now was the perfect time. She knocked and a very surprised Autumn opened the door, letting Mia in almost immediately. The two made their way to the living room. Auts home was truly incredible, it was rather old money and extremely gothic. The walls were lined with bookshelves, black and silver frames with photos of her cat Cadaver and the wedding in them and candles scattered around the place in such order.

The women sat down and made small talk, Autumn thanked Mia for the flowers and placed them down on top of her fireplace. The two just sat and talked for hours, Cadaver joined them and perched on Auts lap before falling asleep her head rested on her stomach. Mia smiled at the thought that this sweet black cat was well aware of the families new addition, Aut noticed and smiled before tracing small shapes on the cats head with her fingers while she slept. It wasn't long before Winter came home and Mia decided to head home and leave the couple to their night, although it was obvious to everyone that Winters arrival meant Charlotte would be on her way home so she wanted to get back to her girlfriend as soon as she could.

Autumn saw Mia out and made her way back to the living room changing her seating position so she could sit under Winters arm, Aut had never been one for affection but Winter truly made her feel safer than anyone ever had before. She rested her head on her husband's chest while his hand made its way to her belly rubbing it gently, this was everything she could've ever wanted and more. Her brother was back in her life, she had her un-biological sister back and she was head over heels in love with a baby on the way. Her life was better than she had ever imagined possible for her.
