Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!

A slow thud of her head against the locker door followed through every time Tenten chanted the word. With the final thud, she stood still, forehead leaned against the locker on the almost empty hallway of Namikaze Minato Building in Konoha University. A loud sigh escaped her lips, resonated quietly between row of lockers painted by the glow of soft, warm light of the golden hours.

I should go home now.

She took a step, beginning her journey home with cluttered mind and restless heart. In her hand, a textbook titled 'Introduction to Consumer Behavior' - the root of her weariness. No, it wasn't about the content of the book. It was the group assignment for this subject, the project that pulled him into her orbit, the one that she never meant to fall for.

Tenten know who she was. A typical everyday Beta. A simple girl with average appearance. Slightly smarter than her peers, yet withhold no extraordinary skills. No noteworthy background. No claim to authority and power.

Her dream was simple: to graduate from university, find a job with decent pay, and marry a good man that her parents approved. Just an ordinary dream for an ordinary Beta. However, that dream was sidetracked by him: Hyuga Neji

He was everything she was not. A proud, young Alpha prodigy with a high-profile background. The firstborn of Hyuga family, a prestigious clan with great influence in Byakugan city in Northeastern Japan. Even on the first month of college, he stood out among all students in Business major. Omegas gazed at him with desire, Betas eyed him with admiration, and Alphas glared at him with envy.

She paid no heed to him at first. Just another Alpha that was beyond her reach. She continued her days like usual, minding her business and helping her parents at their gyoza shop. Until one day, that fateful encounter happened.

A loud sigh again escaped her lips as her eyes met the cover of the book. She remembered it all. The moment they first met that one sunny afternoon. Her usual seat next to the library window was fairly warm, with only hushed sound of rustling page and clacking keyboard filling the atmosphere.

"Mind if I sit here?"

It was his first words to her. Words - and presence - that made her mind glitched.

"Uhm, uh, yeah, sure," her words mumbled.

He curved a warm smile on his lips, and soon settled down, pulling out a textbook and notebook before drowning into his study.

Tenten, on the other hand, was restless. Why me? Wasn't there empty seats beside the one in front of her? What about that long table in the middle? There should be empty seats there.

But as her eyes scanned the room, the answer was clear. A group of girls sat in that particular long table, giggling as they kept their eyes on him. In another table, two boys with chokers around their neck - omegas - watched over him like a hawk eyeing its prey.

Oh, I get it, she thought. He was looking for a safe space to get away from all the unwanted attention. And a seat near the apathetic Average Jane was his safe space.

She lightly smiled. The fact that she was a refuge for him didn't bother her the least and within moments, she returned her focus to her assignment. But with such presence before her, how could she not steal a few glances?

Peeking from behind her laptop, she could finally see the detail of the most admired Alpha at her school. His hair long and silky. His eyes light-colored with a tint of lilac. His expression stern, demanding respect and authority from those around him.
