Ten days later
Ramen Sugoaku, 18.00
Peak hour just began at the Twin Devil's ramen shop.
Chatters of conversation and clatters of utensils against bowls buzzed around the atmosphere. Another 'Order's up!' was heard from the kitchen area - a sound most awaited by hungry patrons. The savory aroma of simmering broth, the crackling of karaage frying, and the hot steam from ocha-filled cups mingled in the air, created a heavenly ensemble that tantalized each of the customers' senses, leaving them wanting for more.
But all those temptation and distraction couldn't take your focus away from what was in front of you.
Nestled in the small private room hidden on the back of the shop, you stared at your tablet with frown between your brows. The screen gleamed in blue light, a contrast against the yellow lighting on the ceiling that encapsulated your surroundings with its gentle glow.
Four days left, you reminded yourself as you focused on the list of names displayed on the screen. It was the names of 10 Black Dragon members accused of treason by yours truly Kisaki Tetta. Some names - those who you already cleared as innocent - had been crossed with red marks, while others were signed with question mark, indicating that follow-up and further investigation was needed.
But your focus for tonight was one name that was circled in red mark. One name that - after a series of investigation, report compilation, and nights of lost sleeps - you thought was the most suspicious of all ten.
Two knocks on the door brought you back to the present. You perked your head as it slid open, revealing a sunflower-blond, pale-skinned man dressed in simple black T-shirt and lightweight khaki jacket. You smiled. He was your guest for tonight.
"Did you wait long?" he asked as he scooted himself on the booth opposite yours.
"No. Just arrived here myself," you placed your tablet down on the table to greet him. "Thank you for coming, Captain."
"Captain?" he was amused at your choice of word. "I'm not one of your bosses, (y/n)-san."
"But still a captain nonetheless, aren't you?"
He responded with a slight smile, before his pair of green eyes scanned the room that hosted him. It was small, but large enough to comfortably fit two people. A wooden table sat between two cushioned chairs, illuminated by warm lights from the fixtures on the ceiling. The shop was bustling with all kinds of noise, but when the door was closed, the room turned serene - perfect for both quiet meal and clandestine meeting.
"So this the Third Division's home base?"
"Yes. This is where Kawata-taichou and -fukutaichou usually deals with their clients for their business. Since our conversation is not exactly commoner-friendly, and it's close to dinner time, I think this is a perfect meeting place for us. My treat, of course."
"You don't need to go to such length. I'm fine with meeting you in your office."
"My office?" you lightly chuckled. "I never have one. And Kisaki-taichou didn't give me permission to use his office for our meeting. So, here we are."
The mention of your boss' name contorted his expression to a disgusted frown.
"Still pissed at him?" you understood his reaction.
"Trying not to," his reply short before taking a gulp of iced ocha served at his table. It was clear that he still harbored an animosity towards the bespectacled captain. "So how can I help you?"
His question was like a switch in your brain, turning your demeanor slightly focused and more intense. You unlocked your tablet, scrolled a few pages down, and placed it on his side of the table. Your voice steady as you uttered your request, "I need your information about this guy."
