getaway - the blossoms

I woke up to an empty bed. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion before the realisation hit and my heart sank. Reece had left.

I frowned, rolling onto my back and pressing my hands to my head as I let out a groan. I was such a fucking idiot. I really thought last night had meant something, but he must have woken up and came to his senses.

I guess it was time for me to come to my senses now as well. I glanced at the clock to see it was nearly ten a.m. I threw my arm lazily to the side, feeling around my nightstand for my phone. I scrunched up my nose, getting annoyed that I couldn't find it when I remembered. It was in the bathroom, from when I'd thrown it last night.

I sighed heavily and dragged myself out of bed. I trudged down the stairs and into the bathroom, spotting my phone on the floor. I picked it up, grimacing at the cracked screen. It still worked at least. I turned it on and was immediately met with a lockscreen full of notifications. My eyes widened slightly as I read.

Missed call from Blake.

My face twisted in confusion. Why would Blake call me at three in the morning? I didn't have much time to think about it as I heard my front door open. A flash of panic coursed through me as I stepped into the hallway, but it was quickly followed by a sigh of relief when I saw a familiar blonde boy shuffling in, balancing two cups of coffee and a takeaway bag in his hands.

I smiled widely as he struggled to close the door behind him. I walked over to help, taking one of the cups from his hand. He looked at me in surprise before flashing a goofy grin.

"Oh, hi. You're awake. I was gonna make breakfast but there's like, literally no food in your house, so I swung by the cafe."

I giggled at him, unable to stop smiling. He hadn't actually left, he was just getting us breakfast. My heart swelled at the thought.

"Yeah... sorry about that," I laughed. "Thanks for getting food."

"'Course," he smiled.

We made our way to the kitchen and Reece started pulling out pastries from the bag. He grinned at me as I bit into a croissant, and I gave him a silly smile back.

"Did you sleep okay?" He asked, taking a sip of his coffee. I smirked to myself remembering laying in his arms last night.

"Yeah, I-" I was cut off by the sound of the doorbell ringing. We exchanged a look, both of us confused. Reece stayed sat at the table as I walked over to the door. I looked through the peephole, my eyes widening.

I glanced over to Reece, mouthing to him frantically.

"It's Blake."

Reece raised an eyebrow before scooching his chair back so he wasn't visible from the doorframe. I took a quick breath, gathering myself, before opening the door.
