Jiang Fan was well aware that the military helicopter was there for him. He had no doubt that the call he had received earlier from a government official had already given him the heads-up.
Just as Jiang Fan was about to explain to Chu Ruoxi, Teacher Wang and the school gatekeeper arrived. Upon seeing the principal talking with Mayor Deng, they both noticed Jiang Fan walking toward the helicopter. Teacher Wang's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that Jiang Fan had lost his mind again? Earlier, Principal Ma had criticized him, and now, Teacher Wang could not let him cause trouble again.
Turning to Liu Zhi and the others, Teacher Wang gave a sharp order: "You all follow me. Stop Jiang Fan and make sure he doesn't disturb the principal and Mayor Deng!"
With that, Liu Zhi, eager to prove himself after Teacher Wang had spoken highly of him to Principal Ma, immediately took the lead. The gatekeeper, though reluctant to confront the special forces, was more than willing to deal with a student, hoping that his actions would earn him a promotion.
The group stepped in front of Jiang Fan, blocking his way toward the helicopter. Teacher Wang shouted angrily, "Jiang Fan, you're a failure! If you're going to go crazy, do it at home! The school is not your playground!"
Liu Zhi joined in, "Jiang Fan, if you take one more step, don't blame us for beating you up!"
Jiang Fan, standing in front of them, was utterly speechless. The helicopter was here for him, but now these people were blocking his path.
Chu Ruoxi, upon hearing Liu Zhi's threat, rushed to stand in front of Jiang Fan, hands on her hips, and pointed angrily at the others. "Liu Zhi, if you lay a finger on Jiang Fan, you and I will never get along!"
Her youthful face, with its hint of baby fat, made her threats sound less intimidating and more endearing, almost comically so.
Liu Zhi, seeing how protective Chu Ruoxi was of Jiang Fan, felt a pang of jealousy. "Ruoxi, why are you defending him? He's just a useless student. You're going to Huaqing University; it's better for you to stay away from him!"
Chu Ruoxi puffed out her cheeks in anger. "Mind your own business, Liu Zhi. Take care of yourself!"
Jiang Fan, watching Chu Ruoxi defend him, couldn't help but feel a warm sensation in his chest. Especially when he saw her angry, she looked so cute that he had the sudden urge to pinch her cheeks.
"Chu Ruoxi," Jiang Fan said with a smirk, "That helicopter is here to pick me up. Didn't you say you wanted to take a ride? I can take you there now!"
Upon hearing this, Liu Zhi and the others burst into laughter, even Teacher Wang and the gatekeeper couldn't hold back.
"Haha... this is priceless! He says the military helicopter is here for him, hahaha..."
"Jiang Fan, I think you should go to the Fifth Hospital (Lingzhou Mental Health Institute), haha..."
"This is definitely the funniest joke of the century, hahahaha..."
Chu Ruoxi furrowed her brows, looking at Jiang Fan, who still had a calm smile on his face. He seemed perfectly normal, yet he was spouting nonsense.
At that moment, Principal Ma was still unaware of what was happening outside. His phone rang. Seeing that it was the admissions office of Kyoto University, he hesitated. Should he answer it? After all, he had to attend to Mayor Deng.
Mayor Deng, noticing the conflict on Principal Ma's face, spoke kindly, "Go ahead and take the call."
With the mayor's approval, Principal Ma stepped aside and answered the phone. Meanwhile, Mayor Deng watched the group of students laughing and talking. He was pleased to see that Lingzhou No. 1 High School placed such importance on fostering friendship among students.
"Minister Zhou, it seems like we've found the person. We'll wait here. Let Jiang Fan say goodbye to his friends," Mayor Deng said with a smile.
Zhou Huaide, who had been silently observing Jiang Fan, was astonished. How could such a young high school student have developed something as monumental as controlled nuclear fusion? Though the files Jiang Fan had sent contained only partial formulas and data, they were enough to change the entire project's trajectory for the next ten years!
On the other end of the phone, Principal Ma was nearly in disbelief. "You... You want to give Jiang Fan special admission?"
"Yes, that's right, Jiang Fan," came the firm reply.
"But... but Jiang Fan only scored 300 points! That's the lowest score in our school!" Principal Ma stammered.
"I know, Principal Ma, but if you can convince Jiang Fan to come to our university, we're willing to offer you one guaranteed admission spot. How does that sound?" The voice on the other end of the line was resolute.
Principal Ma's mind raced. Kyoto University was one of the top five universities in the country, with an entrance score requirement above 640! Offering a guaranteed spot was no small thing. If he could secure that, it would undoubtedly raise the school's overall academic standing, and perhaps even boost his own career.
"Two spots," the voice continued, sensing that Principal Ma was still uncertain. "If you can get Jiang Fan to come to Kyoto University, I'll give you two guaranteed spots. What do you say?"
Principal Ma gasped in surprise. Two guaranteed spots? This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Such a chance could change someone's life, and could even bring more top students to their school, naturally raising the overall academic performance.
Without thinking further, Principal Ma immediately agreed. "I'll make it happen!"
As he hung up, Principal Ma now understood that Jiang Fan was the one responsible for developing solar photovoltaic materials. That explained why Mayor Deng had personally come—he was likely here to make sure Jiang Fan got the recognition he deserved.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Principal Ma quickly ran to stop Jiang Fan, who was still being blocked by Liu Zhi and the others.
Jiang Fan was growing frustrated. He had no intention of arguing with Liu Zhi, but they were pushing him too far.
"Liu Zhi, let go of Chu Ruoxi!" Jiang Fan said coldly, his gaze sharp.
