Jiang Fan opened the system-rewarded capsule of cancer-cell-devouring medicine and poured it into a glass of water. Inadvertently, it ended up being consumed by Long Lao.

Afterward, he asked, "Teacher, do you feel any discomfort?"

Long Lao moved his arm slightly and replied, "I feel much better today than yesterday!"

"Xiao Fan, you don't need to stay here in the hospital all day. Go handle your own matters," Long Lao urged.

"Teacher, there's nothing pressing for me right now. Once you recover in the next couple of days, we can return to Long University together," Jiang Fan said, smiling.

Long Lao sighed helplessly. "I have late-stage liver cancer. I doubt I'll recover anytime soon."

"Teacher, your kindness will surely be rewarded, and Heaven will ensure your recovery!" Jiang Fan said with conviction. Having witnessed the power of the system, he knew that if he gave Long Lao the cancer-cell-devouring capsules, recovery was inevitable. It was just that, for now, he would attribute the recovery to divine will.

As Jiang Fan and Long Lao were chatting, Song Zhe rushed in urgently, pushing open the door. With a gleam of excitement, he exclaimed, "Academician Long, our preclinical trials were successful!"

Upon hearing this, Long Lao tried to rise, but Jiang Fan quickly pressed him back down. "Teacher, stay calm. The doctor said your emotions shouldn't fluctuate too much."

Jiang Fan was deeply concerned that, if Long Lao's emotions became too agitated, it might worsen his condition before the cancer-cell-devouring capsules could take effect.

Only then did Song Zhe realize how fragile Long Lao's condition was, and he felt guilty for his own excitement. He hadn't considered the possible consequences.

Long Lao, after taking a few deep breaths, managed to calm himself. "Xiao Song, tell me more about it."

Song Zhe was initially at a loss for words, unsure of whether to speak or not. Seeing Long Lao's improved complexion, which was visibly better than before, Jiang Fan encouraged him, "Song Zhe, go ahead."

With Jiang Fan's reassurance, Song Zhe adjusted his composure and began speaking in a measured tone to avoid further stirring Long Lao's emotions. "Academician Long, we owe much of our success to your student Jiang Fan. Without him, we would have missed the molecular drug NM-9!"

Long Lao, surprised, glanced at Jiang Fan, confused. He had only returned from the Northwest base yesterday and had been at the hospital ever since. How could he be connected to the success of the preclinical trials?

Song Zhe continued, "Yesterday, I showed Jiang Fan the equations for the drug molecules and target molecules. Through this, he identified the issue we had been overlooking..."

Song Zhe recounted everything that had happened the previous day.

As Long Lao listened, his smile widened. His student was truly extraordinary! Not only had he helped to develop a thousand-ton rocket engine, but now, with a mere glance at chemical equations, he had pinpointed the flaw in their cancer treatment research!

"Xiao Fan, you're incredible! I really don't know what you can't understand! Haha..." Long Lao laughed heartily.

Seeing Long Lao's praise, Jiang Fan grinned and replied, "Teacher, no matter how talented I am, it's all thanks to you. Ultimately, you are the most impressive!"

"Haha... You've even learned to be cheeky!" Long Lao chuckled.

Moments later, a nurse entered the room and, upon seeing Long Lao's improved condition, was visibly astonished. She smiled and said, "Academician Long, your spirits seem much better today! You look like you've regained ten years!"

"Joyful occasions bring fresh vitality!" Long Lao responded with a grin.

He then rolled up his sleeve, allowing the nurse to draw blood for further tests.

At three in the afternoon, Chu Ruoxi came to visit Long Lao. She was amazed at his improved condition, which now seemed almost as good as that of a healthy person. With a playful tone, she teased, "Grandpa Long, I think you're completely cured. Shall we discharge you today?"

Long Lao agreed with a smile, "I think that's a great idea! This place reeks of disinfectant; I'm not fond of it!"

Just as they were joking, Dr. Wang entered the room with a group of medical staff. Long Lao, startled by the sudden arrival, instantly knew something was wrong. From his experience, whenever a group of medical personnel entered his ward, it signaled that something was terribly wrong with his health.

"Dr. Wang, my condition hasn't worsened, has it? I feel perfectly fine," Long Lao asked with concern.

Ignoring his question, Dr. Wang turned to the medical team and ordered, "Begin the examination."

Several medical staff members surrounded Long Lao's bed, measuring his pulse, blood sugar, and blood pressure. Within moments, they conducted a full-body check-up on him, leaving Long Lao confused and bewildered.

"Pulse normal."

"Blood sugar normal."

"Blood pressure normal."

"..."

Dr. Wang, looking at the results, was stunned. He had just retrieved the blood test results from the lab earlier and was astonished to find that all of Long Lao's blood indicators were within normal ranges! He double-checked to ensure he hadn't mixed up the samples, and after confirming, he was left in shock.

He quickly gathered his team and brought them to perform a comprehensive examination of Long Lao's body. The results were even more astonishing — everything was normal! Just yesterday, none of his readings had been normal!

Could it be possible that Long Lao's body had recovered completely in just one day?

"You all take Academician Long for an MRI!" Dr. Wang ordered, and several medical staff began wheeling Long Lao away.

Half an hour later, Long Lao was informed that there were no cancer cells in his body.

He stood frozen in place, unable to comprehend the news.

Could cancer cells just disappear on their own?
