Liu Tao suspected that Jiang Fan was probably a relative or the child of a friend of the boss, here for an internship.
Since Mr. Ren was quite drunk, he thought it would be best to just humor him and make it through.
After all, no matter how much he explained, this young man wouldn't understand—it would be a waste of breath.
Liu Tao casually explained a few things, brushing over the details.
Jiang Fan, however, paid little attention, as Liu Tao's explanation of the mobile system was rudimentary and in no way compared to the system he had been rewarded with.
When Liu Tao finished speaking, Ren Zhengfei turned to Jiang Fan.
"Engineer Jiang, do you understand?"
"Yes, I understand," Jiang Fan replied.
Liu Tao, overhearing Mr. Ren refer to Jiang Fan as "Engineer Jiang," was momentarily puzzled.
But then he realized, it must have been the alcohol speaking.
"Then, what do you think the issue is with our system?" Ren Zhengfei asked Jiang Fan.
Jiang Fan calmly replied, "There's no real issue."
Liu Tao couldn't help but smirk at Jiang Fan's serious tone. The young man was certainly good at pretending.
Mr. Ren calls him "Engineer," and now the boy thinks he understands the intricacies of technical research!
What Liu Tao had said earlier was trivial; if Jiang Fan could identify any problems, it would have been a miracle.
Jiang Fan continued, "However, the system your company is developing is quite outdated."
At this, Liu Tao could no longer hold his tongue. A young man who knew nothing was calling their system outdated.
And to say such things right in front of Mr. Ren-wasn't this an insult?
Without hesitation, he retorted, "Young man, could you tell me exactly how our system is outdated?"
"I'm not entirely sure where it's outdated," Jiang Fan replied.
"Haha..."
Liu Tao laughed at the absurdity of it all. The young man criticizes their system as outdated and yet doesn't even know why. Wasn't that a contradiction in itself?
"Then what gives you the right to say our system is outdated?" Liu Tao pressed.
"Just a feeling," Jiang Fan answered.
"A feeling?"
Liu Tao was now fully convinced that Jiang Fan knew nothing about the subject. He was merely a pretentious kid who liked to show off in front of his superiors.
The fact that Jiang Fan couldn't even explain his claims was laughable.
Just then, Ren Zhengfei turned to Jiang Fan.
"Engineer Jiang, is there a way to improve it?"
"There's no need for improvement," Jiang Fan replied. "In fact, I have a mobile system that I can give to you."
"I can't just take it for free," Ren Zhengfei said. "How about I pay you 100 million for it?"
"Sure."
Jiang Fan agreed without hesitation. After all, this was the top mobile operating system from Blue Star, worth every bit of that 100 million!
Liu Tao, who had been standing nearby, was struck dumb with disbelief. It felt as though he was dreaming.
One person dared to make such a bold claim, while the other was foolish enough to believe it!
What was more absurd, they hadn't even seen the system yet, yet Mr. Ren was already willing to spend a fortune on it!
Just as Liu Tao was about to persuade Mr. Ren, Ren Zhengfei excitedly spoke to him.
"Liu, gather all the engineers!"
"No need," Jiang Fan interrupted. "Just give me a computer, and I'll write the code for the system myself and explain it to Liu."
"Alright then, Liu, get a computer ready for Engineer Jiang!"
Liu Tao was now even more confused. How much alcohol had Mr. Ren consumed to behave like this?
Seeing Liu Tao still standing there, Ren Zhengfei became irritated.
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up!"
Usually, Liu Tao was quick-witted, but now he seemed slow to react. Jiang Fan was a top-tier talent in the country.
If he was willing to sell them the mobile system, it was a huge opportunity.
Liu Tao was simply dawdling, and if he offended Jiang Fan and failed to secure the system, it would be a huge loss for the company.
Reluctantly, Liu Tao fetched a computer for Jiang Fan.
Without further ado, Jiang Fan sat down, opened the computer, and began his work.
Liu Tao, watching from the side, was skeptical. He thought to himself, "Let's see how this young man explains himself to Mr. Ren."
To claim that their system was outdated and to offer a new one worth 100 million—it was almost laughable.
Jiang Fan, however, focused intently on the screen, his fingers flying over the keyboard.
He quickly entered into a flow state, the sounds of typing reverberating throughout the lab.
Liu Tao, though unimpressed, couldn't deny Jiang Fan's speed. Still, speed alone didn't mean much in software development; the real challenge was making sure no mistakes were made, or the system wouldn't function.
An hour passed, and Jiang Fan's fingers finally paused.
Standing up, he turned to Ren Zhengfei.
"It's done."
"Well done, Engineer Jiang!"
"Now, Liu, run a test on the system!"
Liu Tao had expected nothing less than failure. After all, how could a system created in just an hour compete with the one his team had spent three years developing?
But to his astonishment, five minutes later, the testing tool displayed: "Mobile Operating System Passed the Test!"
Overall performance: 100 points.
