I stirred a little, opening my eyes.
‘Where did this blanket come from?’ I thought to myself.
I didn't realize I had fallen asleep. I looked around, noticing Hatori still sleeping. I smiled and shifted trying not to wake him up. Hatori didn't let me budge. I heard footsteps a few moments later.
“Dinner's ready if you are awake. How are you feeling?” Dragedge whispered.
“Thanks and a little better, my side is not hurting as much but I am starting to feel the fever come back again. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to worry everyone again.”
“It's ok. We worry about you whether you say something or not and don't worry too much about dinner we set some plates aside for you two.”
I nodded in response. He smiled as he walked away. I paused before deciding whether to get dinner or not. Before I could make a decision Hatori started stirring and waking up.
“Hey, did you sleep well?” I smiled looking up at him.
He chuckled.
“For the most part. My side hurts.”
I started to get up but he stopped me, I noticed him wince.
“But…” I went to say something but he pulled me into a kiss before I had the chance.
I let my muscles relax even with the pain and the fever starting again. I could hear Dragedge and the kids laughing. We looked over at them.
“We are never going to live that down.” I said.
“I am well aware,” He responded laughing.
“Let's get food. I am hungry." I said laughing.
He agreed, smiling. I struggled to get up a little.
"Are you getting sick again?” He questioned.
I nodded. We joined the others.
“How was your nap?” Kid asked with a smile.
I gave him a dirty look before answering.
“It was nice and definitely needed.”
Hatori put his arm around my shoulder.
“What was it like living here Victor?” Maka asked.
He looked like a deer in the headlights.
“I don't talk about it much, like Hatori doesn't talk about his family much. I lived in a small village as the main doctor. The town didn't do well with outsiders.” He started.
After a short silence.
“So Hatori what elements would you have focused on if you did or can you use any without the bow?” Victor continued changing the subject.
“I technically still can if I choose to do so but I chose not to. If I had to choose, I would probably pick fire or air.” Hatori responded, staring blankly at the fire.
He paused.
“There are only two siblings that focus on it, the oldest Omada and oldest sister Kana. I used to look up to Omada funny enough, he could probably still beat me to pulp. Kana showed some sympathy but not much and even less when our mother remarried. I decided to focus on the calming aura which is what our family is supposed to be known for, no one in the family's calming aura is as strong as mine.” He finished.
We sat in silence finishing dinner.
“What is the plan?” Tsubaki questioned breaking the silence.
“We have to first make sure there are no more kishins in the area or kishin eggs showing up as well.” I started.
“I hope there are not too many kishins.” Soul added.
we all nodded.
“You look tired.” Dragedge commented looking at me.
“I am still trying to shake this fever. It came back again." I responded.
“It's been over a week? You haven't been this sick in a while.” Dragedge looked concerned.
“No. I haven't. I have a feeling I may be out for a bit when we get back.” I rubbed my face.
“Maybe we should head off to bed. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be an interesting day.” Maka suggested.
